🚀 The countdown for our #Startup Day Infineon Technologies #Dresden on June 18 is on. To shorten the wait, we are already introducing you to a few of the startups that will be presenting their ideas on our stage. Today we asked LIDROTEC a few questions to get to know them better: 💡What is the problem you are solving? We solve the problem of material waste in the wafer dicing process. Currently, the wafer dicing process deals with a high number of damaged chips, high costs due to consumables, e.g. the wear of diamond saw blades, and challenges with regards to material and speed.   🔍 What is your solution? LIDROTEC builds laser dicing machines. The unique innovation is the use of a liquid stream to cool and rinse the wafers while they are cut with the laser. This increases yield and throughput. In addition, our laser machine can make thinner cuts than incumbent technologies, so customers can fit more microchips on each wafer, hence further increase the output. 🤖 How is your solution revolutionizing semiconductor manufacturing? With our dicing technologies, we enable the next generation of semiconductors by making the production of chips based on Silicon Carbide, Gallium Nitride and other new materials economically viable. Our CEO, Alexander Igelmann, participated in the Lam Capital Pitch Competition in Fremont, CA, on Monday, and finished the competition as the runner-up. Founders and start-ups can learn a lot from sports! You don’t have to support my football team, VfL Bochum, nor do you have to be a football/soccer fan or a sport fan in general. But if you are a founder, and you are going through one of those downs because another investor has said “no” or a prospect does not want to buy what you offer, sports can give you inspiration and motivation to keep pushing. My football team played in the playoffs for the 1. Bundesliga last night - a two-leg battle. They lost the first leg at home on Thursday with 0:3. Basically everyone has written them off. And on Monday, only 4 days later, they equalised the match by winning 3:0 away, and then proceeded to win the penalty shootout after a total of 14 penalties. The greatest comeback in German playoff history. Of course you need luck in sports, in life and as a founder, but luck is something you can earn in my view. The base are willpower, confidence and grit. So if you feel down again, keep going! Call the next investor, the next client - as long as you’re still standing, you can succeed. It only needs one goal, one “yes” to change the momentum in your favour. The "L" in LIDROTEC stands for Laser, so what better activity to choose for a teamevent than Lasertag. Needless to say it was a very fun experience and more physically exhausting than you would think. A few weeks ago, TRUMPF Photonic Components visited us to inspect the machine we will deliver to them in Q2 (i.e. the big black box in the back of the picture).
