Deep learning for RNA-targeted drug discovery to predict RNA-small molecules interactions. AI is revolutionizing the field of drug discovery in the pharmaceutical industry by offering effective means to improve and optimize many existing processes, from target discovery to the identification of candidate compounds. Although the field has so far been mostly geared toward the development of protein-based drugs, RNAs are attracting attention in research and industry as potent therapeutic vectors and druggable biomolecules. Similarly to proteins, RNAs can be targeted by small molecules to modulate their function with the goal of treating target-related diseases. This dramatically expands the pool of biological entities that can be drugged, offering novel ways to treat human diseases. In this cooperation project between Helmholtz Munich and TUM Data Innovation Lab, we will leverage the latest deep learning architectures for RNA and chemical compounds to predict RNA-small molecules interactions. Our aim is to develop a trustworthy model to be employed in virtual screenings for the identification of compounds to prioritize as promising drug candidates for further testing. We invite master students to participate in this exiting project. Application deadline: 21.07.2024. More info at: https://lnkd.in/dU8pmevK

📣 #PaperAlert "Diffusion Models with Implicit Guidance for Medical Anomaly Detection" from #HelmholtzMunich expert Prof. Julia A. Schnabel, Daniel Rueckert (TUM) and Benedikt Wiestler. Read more about detailed findings: https://lnkd.in/dkddntrY #AI #GenerativeAI #DiffusionModels #AnomalyDetection
🤖 Can we adapt the reverse process of diffusion models for application-specific tasks? 🌟 Our latest paper accepted at #MICCAI 2024 introduces THOR (Temporal Harmonization for Optimal Restoration), a novel approach enhancing the denoising process in diffusion models by integrating implicit guidance through temporal masks. THOR aims to improve pseudo-healthy synthesis and anomaly detection. Our evaluations show that THOR outperforms existing methods in detecting and segmenting anomalies in brain MRIs 🧠 and wrist X-rays 🖐️. 📖 Dive into our detailed findings: [https://lnkd.in/d-HTxmc2] 👉🏼 Access our code here: [https://lnkd.in/dfdBUD2Y] 🙏 Bene Wiestler, Daniel Rueckert, and Julia A. #COVID-19 Pandemic Accelerates Onset of Clinical #Type1Diabetes Data analyzed from the Bavarian #Fr1da study by #HelmholtzMunich and #TUD show faster progression from presymptomatic to clinical #T1D in children with a #SARS-CoV-2 infection. The scientists reveal that the SARS-CoV-2 virus can not only increase the risk of islet autoimmunity in type 1 diabetes but also accelerate disease progression. 🔗https://lnkd.in/d__R8DYi #Diabetes #AWW1 #diabinfo #prevention #AnetteGabrieleZiegler #AWorldWithout1
