🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 On 28 June 2024, our project partners Fraunhofer FOKUS and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin showcased their innovative work at the 4th IEEE International Conference on ICT Solutions for eHealth (#ICTS4eHealth2024). Their paper, titled ‘5G Wound Management System for Remote Areas’, was featured in the ‘Infrastructure Optimization for eHealth Applications’ session. The paper highlights a groundbreaking Beyond 5G solution design from the 6G-PATH project, aimed at revolutionizing telehealth for wound management. This prototype provides a testbed for connectivity and eHealth applications, to be evaluated by field nurses. The ultimate goal? 🌟 To significantly reduce healthcare costs for patients in remote areas, eliminating the need for them to travel to clinics. Was ist eigentlich Künstliche Intelligenz? Dazu haben wir uns mit Jugendlichen im Alter von 10 bis 14 auf der Langen Nacht der Wissenschaften gemeinsam Gedanken gemacht. Unter dem Motto „KI entdecken und gestalten: Ein Design Thinking Workshop für neugierige Teens“ hat unsere Innovationsmanagerin Charlotte Windolf gemeinsam mit Laura Hybner von der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft auf der Langen Nacht der Wissenschaften im Fraunhofer Forum in diesem Jahr einen interaktiven Design Thinking Workshop angeboten. 🔬 🎈 Forschen hat auch immer mit Fantasie zu tun und beim #DesignThinking sind Fantasie und Kreativität gefragt. Gemeinsam haben die jungen Gäste eigene kreative Ideen entwickelt, wofür sich KI in Zukunft am besten im Alltag einsetzen lassen könnte. 🚀 Der Kreativität wurden ganz nach dem Design Thinking Mindset keine Grenzen gesetzt. So kamen Ideen wie ein "Smarter Hausaufgabenhelfer" oder auch der "Super Intelligente Tennisballsammler" zustande. 🏆 Am Ende wurde nicht nur die beste Idee, sondern auch die hilfreichste und lustigste Idee gekürt. 💕 💯 Es hat uns riesigen Spaß gemacht und wir haben uns sehr über das rege Interesse unserer Gäste gefreut. #LNdW #LNdW2024 #Workshop #Creativity #ArtificialIntelligence #KuenstlicheIntelligenz #Innovation

🎉 Herzlichen Glückwunsch!
Letzte Woche gab es ein großartiges Finale unseres 4-jährigen CELTIC-NEXT und BMBF-Förderprojekts AI-NET auf der #Berlin6GConference zu feiern. Unter den 89 Partner-Gruppen haben wir die Umgebungswahrnehmung für automatisiertes und teleoperiertes Fahren vorangetrieben durch erweiterte LIDAR-Sensorik, 5G- und perspektivisch 6G-Kommunikation sowie AI-Processing in Data Centern. Unsere Entwicklung, der COOL-Fusor, integriert LIDAR-Daten von Fahrzeugen in der Umgebung und verbessert die Objekterkennung, insbesondere bei Verdeckungen. Dank intensiver Simulationen mit #EclipseMOSAIC konnten wir wertvolle Datensätze für das Training und Testen unseres KI-Ansatz unter realistischen Bedingungen generieren. Unsere Live-Demo auf der 6G-Conference hat die Leistungsfähigkeit und Grenzen unseres Ansatzes in Bezug auf verschiedene Aspekte des Systems wie Kommunikationslatenzen aufgezeigt. Wir sind sehr stolz, dass das AI-NET Gesamtprojekt mit dem CELTIC-NEXT Innovation Award ausgezeichnet wurde. Ein großer Dank gilt unseren Partnern und dem gesamten Team für die harte Arbeit und intensive Zusammenarbeit. Wir freuen uns darauf, diese Fortschritte weiter auszubauen und die Zukunft der Mobilität zu gestalten. Once again this year, we were represented at the #Berlin6GConference with three different business units from our institute. Today is the last day of the event and we can look back on very valuable days with many great guests and excellent presentations and discussions. The topic of #Trustworthiness by Bernd Schäufele, in connection with research in the field of autonomous driving, has enormous relevance for us. We continue to drive #6G research forward!

How can automated driving functions be made safer? 🚗🔐 This is the main topic I talked about in my presentation "Trust Assessment Fostering the Safety Argument for Automated Driving Functions" at the "Berlin 6G Conference". The #Berlin6GConference is the annual networking event of the German 6G program - organized by the 6G Platform Germany. My team and I are currently testing the intersection assistant in an open V2X system with our ConnRAD project partner Bosch. Today I had the pleasure to present our #greenstreaming project and related research activities on sustainability in media and video streaming like our Fraunhofer FOKUS #GreenView solution at the annual DIMPACT conference "Moving from Insight to Action on Digital Emissions" in London. I have been joined by Tim Davis from ITV and George Kamiya from GSMA for a panel discussion on industry and research efforts to address the energy and carbon footprint of streaming and digital media. François Polarczyk introduced our joint IBC - International Broadcasting Convention accelerator project #ECOFLOW, which will be showcased at IBC 2024. The event concluded with presentations by Emily Jackson-Kessler from The Economist and Emma Stewart, Ph.D. from Netflix on their work on digital emissions. Thanks Will Pickett for having me! Hello friends, that was a busy but very interesting afternoon at the 6G Berlin conference. First I was chairing the industrial panel on the impacts of 5G Campus Networks on 6G with Norman Franchi. Joachim Sachs, Andreas Mueller, Dr. Muslim Elkotob, Tilo Heckmann, Slawomir Stanczak, and Takehiro Nakamura enlightened the audience on the key lessons learned and opportunities in the globally emerging campus network domain paving the way for shaping the 6G ecosystem. Higher spectrum, JCAS, and AI seem to be promising technologies, but the importance to grow the ecosystem was also stressed. Afterwords I was chairing the international panel on Open 6G for all where we discussed the importance of open research infrastructures and toolkits to develop the needed local human resources and ecosystems to realize the emerging 6G key values, which might differ in different regions. Thanx go to Aki (Akihiro) Nakao, Kostas Chalkiotis, Guta (Gouta) Maria, Serge Fdida, Anastasius Gavras, SPARSH SINGHAL, and Abhimanyu Gosain for a vivid discussion where we learned a lot from different regions of the world and the benefits of international cooperation to share knowledge and testbeds.
