📢 In the fifth chapter of our series highlighting projects in operation, we will talk about our #SolarFarm in Spain: Don Rodrigo. The PV plant Don Rodrigo is located between the municipalities of Alcalá de Guadaira and Utrera, close to the city of Sevilla, Andalucía, Spain. It covers an area of 300 hectares. This plant was installed at this site because of its high irradiation index, which is ideal for this type of technology as it offers a high electricity yield. Don Rodrigo has a peak power capacity of 175 MWp and an annual yield generation of 300 GWh, which is approximately equal to the annual energy consumed by 93,000 average households in Spain.👏 The plant's O&M team consists of 11 individuals, comprising 7 technicians, 2 security guards, and 2 engineers, who ensure the completion of all necessary maintenance operations according to the manufacturers' guidelines for each element, while also attending to the client’s requests to improve the conditions of the installation. Our team not only complies with technical activities but also with all legal requirements such as OCAS, environmental measures, and waste management. We uphold high standards of Safety, Quality, and #Environment in all our endeavours, including those at Don Rodrigo. The plant has also become a conducive habitat for flora and fauna, currently hosting more than 2,000 sheep that graze on the plant, aiding in vegetation control. 🐑

🌞Exciting News! BayWa r.e. Global has just sold its Spanish solar park, Almodóvar, to leading independent power producer Encavis AG. 🌍 Located in Andalucía near Córdoba, Almodóvar boasts a capacity of 95 MW and an annual electricity generation of 187 GWh. 🚀   🔗 This milestone transaction strengthens the ongoing partnership between BayWa r.e. and Encavis AG, driving solar and wind projects across Europe. 🌐   🌱 But that’s not all! Almodóvar is part of a 10-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) that BayWa r.e. signed with Huhtamaki in 2021. Huhtamaki, a leading global provider of sustainable packaging solutions based in Finland, has secured the deal for two Spanish solar farms, which will cover approximately 80% of their electricity needs in Europe.🌎   🌿 We are committed to enhancing biodiversity during both the project’s construction and operation. To achieve this goal, we’re taking several steps: creating ponds for invertebrates and amphibians, installing nesting boxes, and building shelters for small mammals, insects, and bats. Reaching the top in 10 minutes via the lift or by climbing 150 meters on the ladder. 💪 As part of the technical operations management team for #WindEnergy at #BayWare, Marc oversees multiple wind farms. Not all these sites are equipped with elevators, but today, he's fortunate to have one, albeit a cramped 0.9 square meters for two people and a large rescue kit. Yesterday, our Managing Director of Offshore Wind, Felipe Cornago Diufaín, delivered an insightful presentation at France’s international event on #offshore renewable energy, SEANERGY BY BLUESIGN. You can find more information about the event on their website: https://lnkd.in/efbN3sCP Felipe is a key member of the Pennavel team. Just one month ago, the French Ministry of Economy announced that the consortium of BayWa r.e. Global and Elicio has been selected by the French government to develop the Pennavel floating offshore #windfarm off the coast of Brittany. This development is particularly exciting because Pennavel is the first commercial floating wind farm to secure a long-term Contract for Difference, marking a significant milestone and setting a benchmark for future #floatingwind farms globally. In Felipe's words: “We are happy with our professional and experienced team at the company. They understand the market, the project stakeholders, and how to efficiently develop a project. Our combination of experts from the central team and local team ensures speed and effectiveness. The transfer of knowledge has exceeded our expectations. The Pennavel project in France serves as an excellent example. Most of the team members working on the project are based in Nantes or Paris.”

The TRUST-PV project has been an incredible four-year journey. As hosts and co-organizers of this event, we’re honored to share and disseminate all the results achieved. BayWa r.e. has been both a witness and an active participant in how a consortium of industrial and academic partners built strong relationships that go beyond work. Our CEO, Matthias Taft, recently visited the Energy Infrastructure Partners Summit 2024 in Zurich. The BayWa r.e. stakeholder celebrated its 10th anniversary in style and with the theme “Investing for decades” – a clear commitment towards long-term investment in #renewableenergy projects and sustainable solutions that was shared by the summit’s guest speakers. Josu Jon Imaz, CEO of Repsol, talked about his pledge to reduce his company’s carbon footprint in the years to come, while also highlighting his plans to significantly increase #renewable projects as a power source. The electrification of Europe’s passenger transport will play a crucial role going forward, pointed out Aurelien de Meaux, CEO of Electra. With transport responsible for 30% of CO2 emissions in the EU, it represents an important opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint. And Stefano Goberti, CEO of Plenitude, spoke of how his company is implementing its #energytransition strategy, reiterating his commitment that Plentitude’s goal as an Italian Benefit Corporation is “the wellbeing of the entire society”.
