Promoting young talents at ASMPT: A hands-on experience for our YPN 🙌 The Young Professional Network (YPN) at ASMPT enables young employees to network within the company and improve their personal and professional skills. In an engaging workshop, the YPN participants produced a unique bottle opener keyring under the guidance of the technical training team. This workshop provided valuable insight into the technical training program and highlighted the work of our apprentices. Participants had the opportunity to tour the facilities and see where the craftsmanship takes place at ASMPT. This workshop was also attended by YPN members with no technical background, giving them a new perspective and valuable insight into this important aspect of the business. 🔍 Observing the detail and precision required to create a simple product was fascinating. Such initiatives not only encourage innovation and teamwork, but also create a stronger, closer community within ASMPT. SIPLACE CA2 - buffer storage for high-speed Die placement directly from the wafer: Integrating this complex process into a high-speed SMT line has often failed due to insufficient performance. This is because the pre-separated dies must first be carefully removed from a carrier film. This time-consuming process can hardly be accelerated. We have solved this problem with the SIPLACE CA2, which uses a buffer memory similar to a placement head. It decouples and parallelizes the processes of picking up the die from the wafer and placing it on the substrate: 16 buffer pipettes are supplied with new dies by the flip unit with its four pipettes while the placement head is still working. This means 20 dies are available when the placement head is ready to pick up again. The result is impressive: the SIPLACE CA2 also achieves high speeds during die placement: 📌 Placement performance (benchmark) flip chip directly from wafer: up to 40,000 cph 📌 Placement performance (benchmark) die attach directly from wafer: up to 50,000 cph The SIPLACE CA2 can thus be fully integrated into the modern high-speed SMT line and enables the efficient production of SiP modules. SIPLACE CA2 – it also works without taping waste Plastic waste has become a threat that is clearly visible to everyone, especially to the marine ecosystem. The sea simply cannot swallow any more. If we want to preserve the ecological diversity of the oceans, we need to reduce plastic waste as much as possible. We at ASMPT are setting a good example here – with the SIPLACE CA2, a hybrid high-speed pick-and place machine that processes both classic SMDs and dies. And the innovative machine can even pick up the die directly from the pre-separated wafer. This not only saves costs and ensures that the SIPLACE CA2 often pays for itself after just one year. The new technology also avoids a lot of tape waste. We have done the math: On a high-volume line, direct die processing saves us 800 kilometers of carrier material every year – a plastic tape that would stretch from Hamburg (Germany) to London (UK).
