Uganda’s National Medical Stores is the backbone of the country’s cold chain system, distributing essential medicines and vaccines to over 3,500 health facilities nationwide. With support from The Global Fund and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, NMS brings lifesaving treatments for HIV, tuberculosis (TB), malaria, and other diseases to people across the country. In July 2024, the nation’s entire vaccine supply will move to NMS’s state-of-the-art Kajjansi Warehouse. The largest medical storage facility in East Africa, the warehouse comes equipped with cutting-edge cold storage capabilities and solar-powered energy systems – and sets a new standard for efficiency and resilience in healthcare logistics. Paul Okware, Chief Stores and Operations Officer, says, “The people should never worry about what we’re doing to provide commodities. We want to be the point of least resistance.” Together, we can strengthen health systems and #EndEpidemics. https://lnkd.in/di5BGw62
