Recently, Silvio Perna, one of our Customer Project Manager, spent two weeks in Munich to improve his German language skills. His studies have been very dedicated with intensive German lessons in the mornings followed by group classes and individual sessions in the afternoons. In his free time, Silvio explored Munich's vibrant cultural scene, visiting museums, he was shopping, and diving into the city's unique culture. His absolute favorite part was running in Munich's beautiful parks, particularly the Olympiapark and the English Garden. To this day, Silvio continues his German lessons through our company program to maintain and consolidate his progress. "It was an incredible experience, both personally and professionally. I was amazed to discover that even in a foreign city I was able to connect with people thanks to my improved language skills.” As a company, we are committed in supporting the education and language skills of our employees through such enriching experiences. With 25 years of experience in pre-assembly and testing, Giancarlo Mazza joined Mikron Machining in 2000, working in the pre-assembly department. His journey at Mikron Machining is full of experiences, learnings and satisfactions: after a few months in pre-assembly, he transitioned to the test room department, a period which he remembers as immense positive, followed by seven months in Rottweil, at our Mikron Germany GmbH, forging there strong bonds with German colleagues. What more? Giancarlo spend one month in China for Mikron Machining. Last month, surrounded by his team, Giancarlo celebrated his well-deserved retirement, still working in the pre-assembly department where he started his career at Mikron Machining. “I will miss the contact with my colleagues and being part of a team that shares with you not only the work, but also the satisfaction of contributing to something great. I am happy to have met Mikron along my career path.” We wish Giancarlo a restful retirement, confident that his passions for archery, electric bike, and bowling will keep him engaged and fulfilled. On Sunday the 9th of June, the Mikron Machining team proudly took part in the 17th edition of the charity football tournament "Passa il pallone della solidarietà", held at the municipal field in Morbio Inferiore, Ticino. This event, organized by FC Morbio Inferiore, aimed to raise funds for SOS-Kinderdorf Schweiz | SOS Villages d'Enfants Suisse to support their program of equal education for children who have been severely affected by the pandemic in Bharatpur, Nepal. The tournament provided an excellent opportunity for Mikron Machining to engage in team-building activities while supporting a worthy cause. The atmosphere was characterized by a positive and collaborative spirit, with all participants enjoying the shared experience. A big thank you to our team for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. We are thrilled to announce that Gabriele Parazzoli, our dedicated metalic carpentry operator, has been honored with the prestigious Luigi Brentani Award 2023. The Luigi Brentani Award is an encouragement prize to apprentices who have achieved better and worthy results in the cantonal exams at the end of their internship in the individual professions. This recognizes Gabrieles outstanding performance in the final apprenticeship exams for the profession of plant and apparatus constructor AFC during the 2023 exam session. Teams of Mikron Machining and Mikron Tool in Agno did participate in a workshop on the “importance of feedback”. Stefano Rasman, Head of Human Resources did lead the workshop at the Mikron Tool Technology Centre in Agno. We explored the crucial role of communication in achieving our goals and learned how to overcome common barriers. Through interactive workshops, we developed active listening skills and practiced articulating our ideas clearly and concisely. We also learnt to differentiate between constructive and critical feedback, focusing on giving timely and actionable feedback. The course emphasized promoting a feedback culture that encourages open dialogue and continuous improvement. We discovered how to apply these skills beyond the workplace to improve our personal and social interactions. Special moments included hands-on exercises, a delicious refreshment break and idea-sharing sessions that created new ways to implement effective communication and feedback strategies within our teams. This training enabled us to improve our communication skills and promote a culture of constructive feedback. Mikron Machining is continuing the overall refurbishment of the headquarter building called “Palazzina” in Agno, Switzerland. This part of Mikron Agno's administrative building was constructed in 1965 and underwent significant renovations as part of a master plan to improve efficiency. The project will reduce energy consumption and improve employee comfort by installing new thermal insulation, replacing the old, simple windows by triple glazing design, and modernizing the office building. The refurbishment helps saving 50,000 liters of heating oil, 70 kWh of electricity and hance reduce CO2 emissions by 140 tons per year. The refurbishment will result in cost savings, improved working conditions and a more attractive appearance of the administrative building. Future plans include the installation of solar panels on the roof top to further improve sustainability. “The sustainability improvements we’re planning to realize by end of 2024 are exciting. Once this step is completed, Mikron Machining Agno will not burn heating oil anymore at all,” says Bruno Joehl, Head of Supply Chain, Mikron Machining, Agno.
