Q: What does the "BBR MVM" tag mean?
A: MVM stands for Much Valued Member. BBR values ALL of its members very much. But in any group the size of BBR, there are some whose efforts go just a little further than average. The MVM tag is awarded to those members as our way of saying "Thanks for what you do."
BBR MVM does not necessarily mean a member is extra smart about anything or always 100% right in the answers or advice they give. They may have received the recognition because of an effort they made in one forum and may be a total novice in another forum.

MVM is not necessarily a permanent tag -- people's habits change and periodically MVM accounts are reviewed to see if they may have "self-retired" from the mainstream. In those cases, the MVM tag may be removed.

Not eligible: The tag isn't awarded to someone who is currently a moderator. Mods who were formerly MVMs may keep that tag when they become mods.

MVM is intended to be a permanent tag. Two things can make it disappear:
  1. It's tied to the user name, not the account ID number, so a name change will cause it to disappear. Contact 2kmaro See Profile or nil See Profile about getting it reset. [No longer true, but since we need 2 reasons... 2k]

  2. Well, we'd rather not talk about the second way.

Q: Some will say "what about so and so? They're an awesome help over in the XYZ forum."
-
A:That may very well be true. But this is a new process, and in time it will recognize others. Their time may come.
-
Q: Ok, but what exactly are the selection criteria?
-
A: Basically it's like the points system, an attempt at systematically identifying those who are considered extra helpful. The moderators can nominate people as deserving of the MVM tag. Neither Justin nor anyone else who works for broadbandreports.com is involved in the selection process.
-
Q: Can I nominate someone or myself for this tag?
A: The answer is no. It doesn't work that way.
