Directed by Emmy Award-winning Peggy Holmes, the Apple Original Films CG animated movie debuts globally August 5 on Apple TV+; exclusive 'First Look’ footage to debut at an Annecy 2022 ‘Work in Progress’ session on June 14.
Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation have just released a teaser trailer for the upcoming CG animated feature, Luck, which debuts globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, August 5, 2022.
In the film, Sam Greenfield is the unluckiest person in the world before stumbling into the never-before-seen Land of Luck – a place that humans are not allowed. She sets out on a quest to bring some good luck home for her best friend, but she must team up with the magical creatures who live there to do it.
Luck is directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Peggy Holmes (Secret of the Wings, The Pirate Fairy, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning) from an original screenplay by Kiel Murray (Cars, Cars 3), and Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda 2, Trolls). John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and David Eisenmann are producing for Skydance Animation.
The film’s all-star voice cast includes Jane Fonda; Whoopi Goldberg; Eva Noblezada; Simon Pegg; Flula Borg; Lil Rel Howery; Colin O’Donoghue; John Ratzenberger; and Adelynn Spoon.
Exclusive first look footage of Luck will be revealed at the upcoming Annecy 2022 festival ‘Work in Progress’ session on June 14. Holmes, along with key members of the animation team, will share insights into the creative journey behind the making of this highly anticipated film. Annecy 2022 runs June 13-18.

The film joins an expanding lineup of projects produced by the Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation partnership, alongside upcoming titles including Spellbound and the animated series The Search for WondLa. Several more feature films and television series will soon be announced. Luck follows the inaugural project in the collaboration, the poignant CG animated short film, Blush, written and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Joe Mateo (Prep & Landing, Big Hero 6), composed by Hollywood Music in Media Awards winner Joy Ngiaw (Red, Fish Head), now streaming on Apple TV+.
