HBO Max and Cartoon Network Unveil Slew of First Looks at Comic-Con 2022

‘Looney Tunes Cartoons,’ ‘Batwheels,’ ‘Teen Titans Go!’ and ‘Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai’ were just some of the shows teased at celebrity and creative talent-filled panels this weekend.

HBO Max and Cartoon Network channeled the excitement of the streamer and network’s return in-person to San Diego Comic-Con 2022 into a who’s who of talent-filled panels showcasing their upcoming animated series. Here are some highlights:

That's NOT All Folks! Looney Tunes for Everyone! (panel):

The Looniest panel teased all the latest from the Looney Tunes Loon-iverse, including the new season of Looney Tunes Cartoons, the new Cartoonito preschool series Bugs Bunny Builders, and the upcoming Tiny Toons Looniversity. Looney revelations included:

Bugs Bunny Builders

  • The series premieres today, Monday, July 25, on Cartoon Network’s Cartoonito, and tomorrow on HBO Max’s Cartoonito. The first episode is available on Cartoonito’s YouTube channel.

Looney Tunes Cartoons

  • Fans saw a sneak peek of the Halloween special, Bugs Bunny’s Howl-O-Skreem Spooktacular, featuring "Hex Appeal," the first dedicated Looney Tunes Cartoons short starring Witch Hazel, set to premiere on HBO Max.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

  • The previously announced movie will debut on HBO Max and Cartoon Network. The sci-fi buddy action comedy sees Porky and Daffy turned into unlikely heroes when their antics at the local bubble gum factory uncover a secret alien mind control plot.

Tiny Toons Looniversity

  • Co-executive producers Erin Gibson and Nate Cash announced surprise guest Ashleigh Crystal Hairston joined the voice cast as Babs Bunny in the upcoming animated comedy.
  • Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Tiny Toons Looniversity will air on HBO Max and Cartoon Network.

The Origin Story You've Been Waiting For... Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai (Panel)

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai:

Magic, mystery, mayhem, and Mogwai! The cast and crew of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai treated fans to an inside look at the upcoming animated prequel series coming in 2023 to HBO Max; the show follows on Cartoon Network at a later date.

  • The panel with Zach Galligan, Sandra Oh, Randall Park, George Takei, and Bowen Yang announced that the voice cast featured… them.

Cartoon Network: Winner Takes All (Panel):

Fans were tested on all things Craig of the Creek, Teen Titans Go! and We Baby Bears by a multi-show panel. They also got some news!

Craig of the Creek

  • Grammy-winning Missy Elliott will guest star on the multi-award-winning Cartoon Network series.
  • Fans got a sneak peek at the Cartoonito preschool series, Craig of the Creek spinoff, Jessica’s Big Little World, and key art for the upcoming Craig of the Creek “Heart of the Forest” story arc.

Teen Titans Go!

  • Filmmaker Zack Snyder will make a guest appearance on an upcoming episode premiering this fall on Cartoon Network.
  • The show’s team revealed that hip hop group De La Soul will return for a guest starring role in Season 8 and gave fans a sneak peek at another episode of the popular show coming this fall.

The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe:

  • The panel presented a trailer for the new series.
  • The show follows the valiant Prince Ivandoe and his loyal squire Bert who embark on a heroic quest to Eagle Mountain to claim the legendary Golden Feather. They must travel the five kingdoms, encountering great danger…and some truly spectacular nincompoops!

We Baby Bears

  • A sneak peek of the crossover episode of
  • Cartoon Network shared a sneak peek of the crossover episode featuring everyone’s favorite witches from Summer Camp Island.
  • The panel revealed Grammy-winning singer Anderson .Paak and his son Soul Rasheed are back in Season 2 as the Triple T Tigers, along with Willow Smith reprising her role as Unica.

Comics Are Fun for Everyone (Panel):

This DC panel highlighted comics and graphic novels from across the DC Multiverse, as well as animation with more news and announcements.

Batwheels

The upcoming preschool animated series follows a group of young sentient super-powered vehicles as they defend Gotham City alongside Batman, Robin, and Batgirl.  It launches this fall on Cartoonito on Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

  • The series’ crime-fighting team includes Bam (the Batmobile), Bibi (the Batgirl Cycle), Redbird (Robin’s Sports Car), Batwing (the Batwing Jet Plane), and Buff (The Bat Truck).
  • The all-star voice cast includes Ethan Hawke (as Batman), Jacob Bertrand (as Bam the Batmobile), Gina Rodriguez (as Catwoman), and Xolo Maridueña (as Snowy the Snowcrawler).
  • “Meet the Batwheels” teaser gave fans a sneak peek at what’s to come (and we have it here – check it out below!).
  • Also announced was Secret Origin of the Batwheels, premiering on Batman Day, Saturday, September 17 on Cartoonito on HBO Max. The half-hour prequel unveils how the Batwheels team formed.

Based on characters from DC, Batwheels is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Animation is by Superprod Studio. Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons) is the executive producer, with Michael G. Stern (Doc McStuffins) serving as co-executive producer. Simon J. Smith (Penguins of Madagascar) serves as supervising producer, and Steven Fink of Bang Zoom Ltd. as producer.
