Veteran actors join a distinguished voice cast for the faith-based animated feature that includes Kenneth Branagh, Forest Whitaker, Oscar Isaac, Uma Thurman and Roman Griffin Davis.
Veteran actors Pierce Brosnan, Mark Hamill and Ben Kingsley and are set to lend their voices to Mofac Animation’s upcoming faith-based film, The King of Kings. The CG-animated feature, inspired by a little-known short story by Charles Dickens and aimed at a family audience, aims to bring a fresh perspective to the life and times of Jesus Christ.
Kingsley will voice High Priest Caiaphas, presiding over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus. Hamill takes on King Herod, the figure who ordered the Massacre of the Innocents, while Brosnan will portray Pontius Pilate, who authorized Jesus’s crucifixion.
This trio joins a distinguished cast that includes Oscar and Emmy Award winners Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Golden Globe winners Oscar Isaac (Show Me A Hero) and Uma Thurman (Hysterical Blindness), and Golden Globe nominee Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit).
The King of Kings is directed by Seong-ho “Jay” Jang and co-written by Jang and Rob Edwards. The production team includes Emmy Award-winning dialogue and casting director Jamie Thomason and veteran executive producer Andrew Mann, with Anfernee Kim producing.

The narrative follows Charles and Walter Dickens as they journey through a retelling of the story of Jesus. Here’s a description from Mofac:
“In the film, Charles and Walter Dickens embark on a multi-dimensional adventure as the master storyteller engages his youngest son’s vivid imagination with the fascinating life of Jesus, his well-known trials and tribulations, and his notable colleagues and foes. The film’s rich animation allows the Dickens pair (and the family cat Willa) to become intrinsically immersed in the ancient tale, interacting with Jesus, his disciples and his detractors – while the stellar cast behind the voices bring these well-known characters to animated life like never before. The result is an animated film that makes the biblical journey easily relatable, readily understood and captivatingly entertaining for families and, especially, to children of all ages.”
Brosnan, widely recognized for his portrayal of James Bond (Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day), has also starred in Mrs. Doubtfire, Mamma Mia!, and The Thomas Crown Affair. Recently, he has appeared in The Last Rifleman and the DC/Warner Bros. film Black Adam. Upcoming projects include The Great Lillian Hall, Black Bag, and Four Letters of Love.
Hamill, best known as Luke Skywalker in George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy, has had a prolific career in voice acting, performing in hundreds of television cartoons, feature films and video games. He first played the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, and ultimately won a BAFTA Award for his portrayal of the Joker in the Arkham Asylum video game series. An Emmy Award winner for his performance in Elena of Avalor in 2021, Hamill’s recent voice work includes lending his voice to Granduncle in the English-language version of Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning The Boy and The Heron.
Kingsley is renowned for his Academy Award-winning role as Mahatma Gandhi, along with notable performances in Schindler’s List, Sexy Beast, and Iron Man 3. Previously awarded an Annie for Outstanding Achievement in Voice Acting in an Animated Feature for The Boxtrolls, his recent voiceover work includes Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and he will soon reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in Marvel’s Wonder Man series.
Currently in its final stages of production, The King of Kings is slated for release around Easter 2025. Mofac Animation is actively seeking distribution partners both domestically and internationally.
