ANIMARKT STOP MOTION FORUMS OPENS SUBMISSIONS TO THE COMPETITION SECTION

Animarkt Stop Motion Forum is a unique event connecting fantastic creativity of the artists with producers’ point of view.

Animarkt Stop Motion Forum organized by Łódź-based Momakin, has opened the doors to an international career for many creators, bringing them closer to their dreams coming true. The same opportunity is extended to stop motion projects in this year’s edition of the Forum. recruitment for the Pitching competition has just opened. Submissions can be made via online forms until the end of June.

Pitching – the competition section of the Animarkt Stop Motion Forum – offers an extraordinary opportunity to present the project before a group of world-famous experts, producers and key international production studios’ representatives. It’s a chance to gain partners and win awards that are going to support the creator in the process of film production, opening the door to an international career.

– Animarkt Stop Motion Forum is a unique event connecting the fantastic creativity of the artists with the producers’ point of view. We want to provide the Pitching participants with support that’s especially important in the early days of the work on a project. That’s why we’ve partnered with studios, organizations and festivals to fund the awards. This year the best of the best are going to receive accreditations to key industry festivals, as well as distribution and co-production support – says Paulina Zacharek, president of Momakin, the Forum’s organizer.

Submissions for Animarkt Pitching are divided into two formats. The first, for short projects in development, under 25 minutes in runtime, with at least the first draft of the screenplay completed. The second format focuses on projects of feature films, TV series, or TV specials in different stages of development. The mandatory qualification in both cases is that a minimum of 80% of the animation must be made in stop motion techniques. This year the pitching submissions once again have to include a sustainable production plan for the film, that’s going to stand for 10% of the entire project’s rating.

– We’re looking for original ideas, innovative solutions and moving stories. We’re aware of how big of an environmental challenge the actions tied to film production are, and that’s why we’re searching for solutions that allow us to minimize this negative impact. This is where the idea for green production criterion in the pitching section came from – explains Marianna Piskorz, the Forum’s producer.

From all the submitted forms the jury is going to pick 10 projects in each format. Creators of the 20 best projects will receive professional support to help prepare them better for their pitching presentations. Each will go through training sessions on pitching, presentation, screenplay preparation techniques, and green production.

This Autumn in Łódź, the creators of the selected projects will compete for awards and the chance to present their work before some of the most prominent people in the industry, getting closer to realizing their ideas. The submissions for the Pitching section are open till June 30th. The results are going to be announced on July 15th.

The 9th edition of the Animarkt Stop Motion Forum is going to take place from October 13th to October 17th in Łódź. Apart from the pitching competition section and workshops, the program includes masterclasses and discussion panels. There is also no shortage of meetings focused on facilitating industry contacts, as well as recruitment sessions for international animation studios.
