What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy, also called cryoablation or cryosurgery, uses freezing gas to destroy cancer cells in the prostate. This type of treatment is categorized as focal therapy. Focal therapy is a treatment that targets a specific region of the prostate.
Important: Focal therapies and their long-term success has not been proven in larger clinical trials. Cryotherapy, and other focal therapies, should be considered as investigational treatments.
