      Keynote Speaker

      Amelia Salazar, Ed.D.

      "Your Success is Student Success"

At our core, higher education institutions exist to support the educational and personal development of our students. This is coupled with a strong consensus that student success is “everyone’s job.” However, after the last few years of pandemic-related stress and the continual pattern of doing more with less, the strain of something that is “everyone’s job” is taxing. As such, this session will focus on you, your well-being, and how critical it is to achieve our student success goals. Enjoy this time of investing in yourself and then turning that awareness into empathy and advocacy for our students.

Amelia Salazar has focused her career on designing institutional structures and strategies to support student success and maximize social mobility.  Working with a variety of institution types, from large R1 universities to smaller public regional colleges, the strategies are based on each institution’s needs and student population, with an emphasis on holistic student success and relational-based approaches. Dr. Salazar’s research and teaching agenda has focused on high-impact practices, assessment in higher education, mentorship, learning loss, and college readiness of academically at-risk students. She earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Alabama, a Master’s in Higher Education Administration, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Central Florida.
