Contemporary constraint
[edit]With Tupac Shakur there is a potential issue with him being associated with Amaru Entertainment. Because of the contemporary constraint. The releases under Amaru Entertainment are all posthumous studio albums. How should we solve this problem?
contemporary constraint The entities Tupac Shakur and Amaru Entertainment should be contemporary to be linked through record label, but the latest end value of Tupac Shakur is 13 September 1996 and the earliest start value of Amaru Entertainment is 1997.

record label is not applicable to musical works/composition items <<< disagree
[edit]record label is not applicable to musical works/composition items, only to artists and releases (albums, EPs, singles, etc.). For music publishers, use P123 (English)
Many items combine musical compositions with recording and release
We should adapt to this, it is productive to see all the information related to a musical work
I have not seen any instances of creating separate items for record releases

- Agreed. This warning is currently contradictory. It claims to prefer applying "record label" to instances of "albums or singles". Yet entities that are in fact an instance of single (but also an instance of musical work) are currently flagged as a violation. I don't know how to make it inclusive instead of exclusive, so I've removed the rule for now. Krinkle (talk) 06:37, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
