Slow, Clunky & Archiving is AWFUL
We've been using Zenfolio for our business for almost 6 years now, and although it's always been slow, I liked many of the other features so I continued. I feel as though the slowness has only increased through time and the amount of time I have to wait for photos to load is absurd. I see spinning orange circles more than I see photo thumbnails. I have a pretty fast computer too. I can't imagine how many times clients see that. Also, many clients claim never getting their gallery link (and they aren't in their spam folder) when we know we've sent them through the Zenfolio website, so there's that too. And lastly, there is the new horrible feature of archiving, where so many older galleries just went missing and now I have to retrieve any of those galleries/photos if I need them. I tried retrieving a gallery of a smaller wedding the other day and although I can see the gallery, I can't download anything because it's still in retrieval status. It's says to allow at least 12 hours, and it's been 2 days. The kicker is that there are photos mixed into the gallery from another photographer. I counted at least 13. I truly hope my clients don't retrieve their galleries and find photos in there that do not belong. For the high cost of the service, it should run smoothly and quickly. We have so many galleries in there that it will be a big, annoying process to move to another service, but it's necessary and we have begun the process. If anyone is looking to use a gallery service, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Also something to note- they have shut off comments on their social media so that unhappy customers are silenced. That says A LOT.
(I would also be very wary of the influx of positive reviews by "invited" reviewers here in the last few days. Seems a bit strange to me.)
