Purchased a car 2 weeks ago from CarMax…

Purchased a car 2 weeks ago from CarMax and am still waiting for it to become available.

The team in Norwood, MA has provided terrible customer service and hasn't provided me with updates as they promised nor have they been really keen to help.

Really terrible customer service. Would not buy from them again.

Don’t believe them

Don’t believe them. I had a car shipped in from another location. When I went to see the car there was a significant scratch that was not in the photos. That was only the beginning! I went through their pre-approval process. I uploaded all requested documents. I spoke with them twice prior to taking delivery and was told unequivocally that everything was set. I arrived to find the scratch. I could work around that. They then said that I had to have the car that I had not purchased listed on my current insurance. It was the weekend I could not do that. Also at the time owned a car purchases from Carmax that was listed. In my many many car purchases I have never been asked for this. I own my own business, I insure my car on my company policy. Monday came around and I arranged to get the car listed. Then they came back saying my commercial coverage was not acceptable. I would have to buy a separate personal policy. They then asked for additional financials. Keep in mind, I was pre-approved! I walked away!!

Well in Chamblee, GA...

The CarMax buying only location in Chamblee, GA is FILLED with friendly, knowledgeable people who got me out of there with a very fair offer in less than an hour. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a reasonable and fair offer for their used vehicle. I can only attest to the selling your vehicle side of things. I did not buy a new used car from them as I have heard horror stories. This location didn't sell vehicles anyways.

I don’t think you can put zero stars…

I don’t think you can put zero stars but I could if possible. Bought a car from carmax within 4 years was having issues and broke down. Got it fixed and tried to sell it back to them. Called the store they said I had all the right information came in and waited an hour for them to check my car to verify offer. Got offer they said they couldn’t do sale because system was down. I had the offer for a week and I should have plenty of time to do offer. Called today and I have to do the process all over again because their system is not up. Don’t go to them all of there states and customer service is terrible!!!

Never go to Carmax when in the market for a vehicle.When we purchased vehicle we were not…

When we purchased vehicle we were not informed that it had been in accident prior to our purchase. The trunk leaks when it rains so vehicle was taken to Gerber body shop. We were shown the point of impact of accident was the driver rear part of car. The quote to have it repaired to specs was an estimated $2500. Carmax stated 1) They "sell wrecked cars all the time." 2) They did not see any evidence that the leak in the trunk was caused by an accident and would not cover any of the repair. 3) The only thing they will do is replace the weather stripping but we would have to pay Carmax to do it.

This is NOT good customer service and we have posted this on Carmax's website and spead word to everyone we know and come across who is in the market for a vehicle to NOT ever go to Carmax.

Easy. Fast. Professional.

I never thought I’d go to a large dealership like CarMax to buy a car, but then again I never thought I’d live in the south and have an opportunity to buy a Mini Cooper. I’m a New England girl: born and raised. But the Mini Cooper is what I had my heart set on and CarMax had several to choose from: including convertibles!!
We decide to go to CarMax.
Within moments of entering, we were helped by a professional. We were able to test drive the Mini Coopers. I chose the one I wanted. We financed right there on the spot. The process was a seamless and quick and CarMax made every step easy to follow and understand.
Every member of the CarMax team we interacted with was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and willing to do whatever it took to get me in that Mini Cooper.
I picked out a red Mini Cooper convertible and named her Frankie. We drove her off the lot that day.
I would highly recommend CarMax if you’re considering purchasing a new or used vehicle.

CarMax Auto Finance makes it impossible…

CarMax Auto Finance makes it impossible to access your statements. The email notification does not include the statements and when you click the link and login they are nowhere to be found. I had to contact support to access my statements which is rediculous. All they want to do is sell you a car and not provide the service afterwards.

They suck

I have been trying to reach Laurels business office for hours. Was told I would receive a callback… no call back ever happened… called back reach someone named Iesha and was hung up on!!! I will not be purchasing another vehicle from this place again ! I was calling to get my maxcare checked into as my current vehicle is totaled !! No help! & to think I was going to go back there to purchase my next vehicle ! I will not !!!!

Purchased my 2016 LX570 from Carmax

Purchased my 2016 LX570 from Carmax. During their 90 day warranty period, i developed a slight leak in the water pump which made the belt squeek. I took it into carmax in Golden Colorado and they replaced the water pump and the radiator at no charge and provided me with a loaner during the process. Best used car buying experience I have ever had!

Cumbersome

Cumbersome, invasive and not easy to work with. Frustrating waste of time. Haven't even got the car yet and I'm ready to cancel the whole order bc the process is not worth it.

The sales people were very good when I…

The sales people were very good when I was ordering a car and having it shipped to Independence Missouri. That's when it fell apart the time it was suppose to ready came and went so I called and ask how it was going. They told me it might be another two or three weeks to get the title rewrote from the DMV. The car had set on the lot at carmax in Tennessee for 41 days why was it not ready now? I looked online and had a car shipped to me from another state and unlike carmax they call me and keep me updated on everything that is going on.

If you buy a car from this company and…

If you buy a car from this company and do all the checks to ensure you’re buying a legit vehicle and 4 months later because they didn’t do their due diligence and the police show up to take your car DO NOT HAND IT OVER! Insurance will not help as the police tell you they will and CARMAX will tell u to get a lawyer ! Show the police the title that you own the vehicle and it will then become a civil case & you won’t be without a vehicle ! Sellers to Carmax beware

Sellers to Carmax beware! I made an appointment to have Carmax look at my car and make me an offer. 45 minutes AFTER the appointment time, they couldn't tell me when they would be able to look at it, but it would be at least another 2 hours. What is the point of making an appointment???? I drove 30 minutes each way from home to Carmax. I left without ever having received an offer because they couldn't give me a time frame. Who has time to sit in a dealership for hours? These guys are a joke!

They sell junk

They sell junk. Carmax sells cars for full retail price that are FAR below retail condition. In fact their condition is AWFUL. Every single car I've tested from them had OBVIOUS mechanical problems with parts needing replacement. But they won't fix these obvious problems. They will press you to buy the damaged cars anyway, saying you can always get them repaired afterwards. They repeatedly lie about the conditions of cars and take your money anyway.

They also low-ball you when offering to buy your vehicle.

Silly people

They buy stolen cars then resell it. Then, they ask police to seize said car from innocent owner. In turn they have committed daylight robbery. Never do business with this company.

A fixed price offers several benefits for a buyer, reduces negotiation time, and transparency in cost streamline the purchasing process.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Juan Carlos Barrios from CarMax, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. He went above and beyond to ensure that I found the perfect vehicle for me and family. NO Inspection was done on the car, prove me wrong! Express Pickup turns into Express Drop Off

4th car purchased at CarMax. This recent purchase I bought online using the Express Pickup option. I had financing and a car within a 2-3 hours. I drive 70 miles to pickup the car. Within 20 mins of driving the car it was smoking, clearly needed a wheel alignment, left front passenger wheel making loud noises and the AC went from cold to hot.
I am fully convinced this vehicle was not inspected properly according to CarMax Inspection policy that they market and pride themselves in, prove me wrong.

I liked the sales guy but that was the…

I liked the sales guy but that was the only thing that was positive. Carmax is a scam company. They approved us for cars at $500 down and give you a search engine where you can shop based on your budget but when you show up at the dealership the $500 down price gets tripled in three days before our approval was to expire we went in to get a car and all of a sudden there was only one vehicle available in all of the network and it was $800 down not 500. So apparently at every step of the way, they lied to you , their search engine capability of shopping by budget lies to you and then final result. We didn’t get a car because they are scammers and we would not play along with their game.

I have a 2018 Kia Niro Hybrid with…

I have a 2018 Kia Niro Hybrid with 114.000 highway mileage in excellent condition. Never had an issue with this clean carfax 2nd owner car, and clean accidents free car. Due to my latest financial situation as a retiree, I went to CarMax to see if can get a fair price for my car. I was shocked when the unfriendly and extremely cold salesperson returned after a 30 minutes following the car appraisal and offered me $5000.00 where the KBB estimate value is around $12.000.
What upsets me the most of their unfair practice is the posting their offer online. I’ve sold two others cars to carmax in the past including my 2015 Audi A6, and I would strongly suggest to avoid this company that takes advantage of general public and senior citizens like myself.

Charlotte CarMax incompetence

Purchased a car for my daughter at the Charlotte, NC store. The people there forgot a piece of paperwork that needed to be signed. They overnighted it to me and then, when we returned it via their fedex packet, they lost it. They have had my daughter come back to the dealership three times, and now, bc of their failures, despite my speaking with a sales manager, wrote a new contract for my daughter with a higher interest rate. Not my problem that interest rates have risen.
