Bad Customer Service Experience
I am writing because I am disappointed in the way Everbank's VonTasha Whitehead (Customer Care Team) tried to blame me for their failure to deliver the required 1099 INT for the 2023 year. I opened an account with EverBank (then TIAA Bank) a few years ago and in 2022 signed up for paperless communications, so that I would need to get all documents through their online banking. During 2023, I needed to close the account. When I tried to access the 2023 1099 INT on their website in March 2024 to file my income tax return, it was not available in my Everbank online account because Everbank had deleted all documents due to my account being closed. I called to get the 1099 INT, which they did send. However they also sent me a letter saying that it was my fault that I did not receive the 1099 INT because I had signed up for paperless communication. True, but if the Bank is going to delete all my account information and I have no access to the 1099 through their website, then it becomes incumbent upon them to send a copy by mail before the Jan 31st deadline.
