VLE Overview
What is a VLE? Virtual Learning Environment WebCT, Moodle, Blackboard Website Login, modular Content Communication Assessment
VLE at LSE WebCT (Campus Edition 4) 430+ uses All depts but varied use WebCT Designers / Funding Future – 2 Current Pilots WebCT (Campus Edition 6) Moodle
Staff and Student responses to WebCT “ Brilliant! keep up the good work. Add more!” “ WebCT is a very good idea and should be extended to other courses.” “ Excellent resources, very impressive. It has helped learning immensely” Ideas and questions are floated on the discussion board prior to seminars so students have the chance to begin discussing them before coming to the class. This offers a new way of addressing student engagement in the course, of building interest. Staff responses If a lecturer answers a question in a discussion area, then it is available to everyone….it has taken pressure off my (student) office hours WebCT has not changed what I do radically but it’s created a far better learning environment for students. Student responses
