A torch is a flashlight that provides light in the dark but does not turn on automatically. The torch was invented in 1898 by Conrad Hubert. It uses batteries, which were invented in 1868 by Dr. Carl Gassner Jr., to power an incandescent light bulb or LED light source. Torches are portable light sources that do not require electricity, making them convenient for use when no other light is available.

A torch is a flashlight that lights up in the dark but not automatically.
The person who invented the torch was Conrad Hubert in 1898.The person who invented the incandescent light bulb was Thomas Edison. The light bulb was invented in 1879.Another man called in 1868 Dr.Carl Gassener Jr invented the batteries to put in the torch so it could work.
People use the torch in the dark to see. There is no electricity to connect the torch because it is hand held. So it is handy to use a torch.
A torch has a thick handle with a circle on the top. It has a light bulb that protects the lamp covered with plastic shaped as a circle. It may come in many different colours and designs.
The torch works by the batteries. The batteries give the torch most power to make the torch work. There is even a tube outside of a torch. There is even a light emitting diode that is type of LED. The LED glows when electricity flows through it.
