- 4. TERMINAL : Device that performs both input and output. Used to send and receive Data ,mostly consists of keyboard & monitor. Many terminals connected to a central compute. Through terminal, much people can work on a computer at a same time.
- 6. POINT-OF-SALE(POS) Terminal: Records purchase at point where purchase is made. Output from POS terminals serves as input to host computer.
- 7. TYPES OF TERMINAL: Few types of terminals are as follow: DUMB TERMINAL INTELLIGENT TERMINAL SMART TERMINAL LOCAL TERMINAL REMOTE TERMINAL VIDEO DISPLAY TERMINAL
- 8. DUMB TERMINAL: Has limited function related to other types of computer terminals. Can process information and can only display the input received from the input hardware. Depend on central computer for their work It has only input and output units to send and receive information to and from other terminals.

- 10. INTELEGENT TERMINAL: They are microcomputer that can process data and store it . This device is often a combination of a display and keyboard with at least one built-in microprocessor to provide facilities such as editing . It can process ,store and receive information to & from other terminals as well as central computer.

- 12. SMART TERMINAL: Can process information but can not perform any programming operations. Smart terminal allow merchants to swipe ,insert or manually credit card data for fast check out. This terminals are usually used for checkouts and payments.
- 13. LOCAL TERMINAL: Directly connected to central computer through cables. This type of networking called local area network(LAN). Local terminal are used in singal building .
- 14. REMOTE TERMINAL: Long distance away from the central computer. Connected to central computer through telecommunication lines. The remote terminals are mostly like intelligent terminal.
- 15. VIDEO DISPLAY TERMINAL: This is like a TV screen. This screen is called monitor. It display information received from the computer. The combination of monitor & video display unit in called the video display terminal.
