SEAFARER DAY SEAFARER DAY Teekay’s greatest asset is undoubtedly its world-class people. Every year we support the International Day of the Seafarer to celebrate the hard SEAFARER DAY work and commitment of our seafarers. This year’s campaign theme was “At Sea For All” emphasizing that seafarers serve at sea and are indispensable to the world. We collected photos of our seafarers using the hashtag #TeekaySpirit. I like my job. I want to be a seafarer for a long time… No rush! WOMEN OF TEEKAY Second Officer AINOA SANCHO I started to work as a stewardess on a passenger ship and I see my deck officers and I say: “I don’t want to be a waitress all my life! I want to drive the ship!” So I was saving money working for a year and a half as a stewardess. 2017 SEAFARER CONFERENCES SEAFARER CONFERENCE S SEAFARER CONFERENCES Teekay has several thousand seafarers all around the world; whether at home in 20+ countries or on our vessels found, well, everywhere. It is the nature of the business that people and assets are scattered across the globe doing work for customers. So, it is rare that colleagues can come together in one place at one time. That is the purpose of our seafarer conferences. The focus is to connect ship and shore, creating alignment – to support each other and learn from each other TOGETHER. They are my family because when I take care of them, they take care of me. When I come onboard and I meet the crew, I learn what they want, what they like, the food they like. I write it down so I remember in the next ordering to order the food they like.I don’t order the food that will become wasted because they don’t like it. I just order the food that’s healthy for them and what they like. My job is to care and protect the health of the people. To give them good and healthy food. P.19 2017 At the beginning...OS - Ordinary Seaman - and then, I’m going up to the bridge and I ask the Captain if I can study there and watch the officers. I really push myself, y’know. I push myself to get all the training I need so I can JOHN VITAS Trainee Third Officer have my COC. And then I applied for Ratings to Officer (program). Really, really good news for me, yeah! They promoted me as Trainee 3rd Officer. A TEEKAY CAREER #TEEKAYSPIRIT “ ”I was on a VLCC not in the best condition, approaching Singapore, and coming out of Singapore was a ship with the Teekay logo on the funnel. I had Manager, Teekay Training Centre P.18 2017 a look and it was the Pinewall Spirit. I said to a guy: “that’s the next company I am going to work for.” And I did. And I’ve been here ever since. ORCHESTRATIONVancouver My perspective of the F&A team at Teekay is that it’s a global networked organization who rely on each other to create the final product. So it’s a real orchestrated effort, you can think of it like a symphony. Not any one person or level can know everything, Everyone’s got their part, and each part is as important as the other. When I first came to TK I was a contractor – great way to get to know Teekay and for Teekay to get to know me. A year after that a position came up for a permanent role so I applied for A TEEKAY CAREER Teekay Accounting that and I was the successful candidate. Teekay took a chance on me so I am loyal to Teekay for that and that is one of the reasons I have been here for 5 years. Speaking to anyone in the accounting realm in Vancouver - they know exactly what Teekay is – and maybe my stature goes up a little bit once I say I work at Teekay. The Singapore office celebrating Chinese New Year with a special performance. A TEEKAY CELEBRATION Teekay is a global company with an inclusive approach to people and cultures. We are represented by professionals from every part of the world. Although English is our shared work language, over 20 languages are spoken just in our Vancouver office. CHASING SUNRISE WITH #TEEKAYSPIRIT It was cold, it was damp, and the conditions were harsher than expected. But looking back, those aren’t the metrics that matter. Not at all. What matters is that each one of you dug deep, pushed yourself, took turns carrying coffee, and helped each other up a mountain, step by step. P.27 #TEEKAYSPIRIT 2017 Some people here in Teekay Norway took their pension, and saved other younger colleagues from losing their jobs. I really respect them. It must be a hard decision, leaving work before they had been thinking... ALWAYS TOGETHER So people came and waved goodbye to him on his way home, knowing that he would never return to the FPSO.
