wide JAMA/JIRA Project Management System implementation to be used worldwide by Merck’s 30,000

• Created a User Guide, Installation Guide and Design Document Documentation for a Virtual Desktop
initiative, in which the company switched to VMware Horizon for all remote access.
• Created a Disaster Recovery Playbook for a DR exercise. The Playbook included instructions for shutting
down the primary Data Center, running Service Recovery Manager Procedures to establish the secondary
Data Center, and procedures for re-establishing service to the Primary Data Center.
• Created procedural documentation for Desktop Support Staff, including implementation guides and
onboarding procedures for new employees.

• Wrote a System Overview Guide for a Home Health Care Provider Management system for a large Western
state. The guide utilized a Use Case Format, using pseudocode to outline the outcomes of inputs and
expected results.
• Wrote System Policies and Procedures, including Incident Management, Data Management, and Disaster
Recovery Plans. Worked directly with Chief Technical Officer and Senior Product Managers in the creation of
the policies.

Served as the Lone Tech Writer at a 500+ company, working with all levels of a company from the C Suite on down to
address both technical and business documentation.
Technical Writer
• Release Notes, End User Documentation and Standard Operating Procedures:
Created user guides and report guides for database-driven web and mainframe applications. Designed and
documented four different end user guides (1500-2000 pages in total) and maintained single sourced Online
Help systems (using Web Works Publisher) as well as embedded Online Help for browser-based applications.
• Created documentation for developers and administrators including:
o Web Developer Guides with element descriptions and API information.
o Instruction manuals for custom development tools.
o Data Dictionaries.
• Training and reference materials at request of various business units including training materials for security
software and Issue Tracking Systems.
• Point person for high level confidential business projects involving Senior Management including RFP
responses, audit documents, business continuity plans, project reviews and lessons learned documents.
Cost savings/value added: my work was used extensively for training of line staff and account representatives. It was
also used by technical staff requiring background in the company’s proprietary applications. It was praised by all user
audiences for its effectiveness.
• Training: Created and presented internal and offsite client application training for new applications.
• Development:
o Created Excel Access and SQL solutions for report tracking time tracking and production tracking and
Mail Merge Excel driven department time tracking.
Cost Savings/value added: Department efficiencies (by automating core functions) and reduced development
time) by having a record of existing reports resulting in being able to determine what could be modified as
opposed to what required new coding.
o Created a SQL based system for creating Loan Disposition Documentation using SQL queries and
Word Mail Merge functionality.
Cost Savings/value added: Automation of what had previously been a manual process resulted in greatly
reduced efficiency in both time savings and data quality.
• SharePoint Site Administration: Acted as Business Unit Administrator for Department SharePoint Site.
• User Acceptance Test Coordinator: Worked with Data Center and User Acceptance testers to maintain
server environment (scripts database restores test reports) and assist in resolving related issues.

was cut in half as only one set of content needed to be verified (instead of separate review of print and online help).
