Editor's Notes

  1. APPLICATION ENABLEMENT Call up our head of Engineering, SVP Gary Barnett. So Gary, what is application enablement? (Flip slide)
  2. APPLICATION ENABLEMENT - COLLABORATION ENVIRONMENT “Personal Assistant” and “Seamless Transfer” user case   Challenge keeping up with different types of meetings on the go (bridge numbers, host keys, passwords) Gary introduces Personal Assistant Click, first image appears Talk about the value proposition (one conference number, no need to remember anything else, quick voice guided setup) Perfect to get on a conference call in car on the way to work Click, second image appears (hands-free, voice guided) Discuss problem of dropping voice call on phones and rejoin on desktop as video calls when walking from car to office Gary introduces Seamless Transfer Click, third image appears Plantronics proximity kicks in when in the office.  Voice call on phone seamlessly transfers to his desktop as a video Scopia call; voice call on phone drops off.  (no need to rejoin meeting, no drop calls) Perfect solution for business professionals who are in meetings all day and constantly on the go (Pierre-Paul thanks Gary)
  3. NETWORKING AND FABRIC SWITCHING When we talk about Cloud, Mobility, Infrastructure and Applications, they all require a solid network infrastructure and foundation to become an architecture for Collaboration. To help me tell you more about that, let me ask the king of the Fabric, Mr. Networking himself, Jean Turgeon, or JT, to come out and join me. JT, so why would people focused on Collaboration, voice and video, care about networking? (Flip slide)
  4. The Old Network Model Doesn’t Work Anymore We have some very exciting thing happening with our Fabric Connect. Technology eliminates root cause of the headaches Another capability within the network is required a protocol is layered on top. As # protocols gets larger - the more complex and unstable the network gets. Fabric Connect eliminates all these layers and protocols but enables all the capabilities. L2 services, L3 services, routing and multicast services with a single technology. Benefits: simpler network designs, management and configuration; faster network recovery times Diagram on left a simple network. Other networks are more complex shown Other vendors fabric solutions are only replacing the grey and blue boxes (legacy L2 protocols) We are currently the only vendor in the industry today that can also replace L3 services, routing and multicast.
  5. AVAYA OLYMPIC FIRSTS Key Points: Avaya is the proud sponsor of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi Russia. This is an interesting honor. On one hand, it is a tremendous opportunity, on the other hand, our network will be in the world’s largest glass house. This Olympic event supported: 3 billion TV viewers 25,000 volunteers 3,000 reporters and media personnel vying for network services Billions of internet customers This honor, however, wasn’t earned in the RFP. This honor was earned in 2010 in Vancouver, Canada. We were the sole provider for what was dubbed the first “All IP games”. The games went off flawlessly. First BYOD/Guest environments in the world 40,000 “guests” WLAN mainstream (80%) Villages to Venues First IPTV – Converged Multicast First Fabric Olympics First free Wi-Fi for Olympic Committee Virtual Data Center design Secure Virtual Services (Virtualization) Distributed L2/L3 Virtual Design Achieve scale with security
