Aims:
 Summarize the state of the art on the understanding of the processes that govern
the crushed salt consolidation and determine the relevance of crushed salt as
geotechnical barrier in a repository for radioactive waste
 Display in detail the experiences gained by laboratory tests and in-situ tests on
crushed salt
 Discuss and compile the R&D-needs to accomplish the scientific basis for crushed
salt as an important component of a technical barrier in a HLW repository
