CONQUEST END TASK MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION
Task You will deliver a presentation to the “Dragons” to try and convince them to invest in your Battle Re-enactment Company. Your presentation to the “Dragons Den” panel you will need a multimedia presentation using PowerPoint.
Multimedia Presentation A presentation is a way of communicating information and ideas to someone else. Presentation software combines text with colours , images and sounds into slides, which help to get a message across. The people watching the presentation are called the audience .
Working Independently If you want to find out how to do certain things in PowerPoint use the following link which has a set of tutorials to help you with the advanced functions of PowerPoint. http://www.teach-ict.com/software/ppt/powerpoint.htm
Purpose and Audience Purpose Why are you doing it? What is the key message you are trying to get across? Are you mainly trying to give information, or to entertain? Audience Who is going to be watching your presentation? How old are they? How well can they read? What do they already know about the subject?
Good and Bad Presentations Good Be easy to read Be easy to understand Have a clear beginning, middle and end Take into account the needs of the intended audience Bad Misspelled words Background pictures that make text difficult to read Too much information on a slide Fancy font in colours that are hard to read Anything which makes it hard for the intended audience to get the message!
Understanding your Audience P eople in the audience – Who are they? U nderstand – Will they understand the words, sounds and images used? R ead – Will they be able to read the content? P lanned – Have you planned how to talk about the content? O ffend – Will any of the content offend the audience? S imple – Have long, complicated words been used when there are easier ones? E ffective – Are the text, images and sound clear and effective
Peer Assessment You are going to assess all of the presentations and award a mark. You are asked to judge them against two criteria: Quality of the presentation and Content of the presentation. Once you have uploaded your work view other pupils work and give formative comments.
Assessment Criteria Quality means: consistent background, consistent font, good use of colour, good use of bullet points, not too much information on one slide, appropriate images, appropriate sounds. Content means: the information in the presentation – is it easy to understand? Is it interesting? Does it answer the questions posed at the start of the project?
