This document discusses learner support mechanisms for moving learning online. It examines different models of support and critiques the traditional, additional model in favor of a more holistic approach. Some key points made include: recognizing that all students need support at some stage; encouraging students to be proactive in their learning; providing various gateways to access support; and designing online programs and support from the outset with learner needs in mind. Technical support, tiered support systems, and using technology like online help resources are also addressed.
