Exploring the value connected for juvenile goods
Maxi Cosi
What is it?
An acceleration sensor was placed in the child car seat so that heavy
impacts could be measured. All acceleration above a certain limit was
identified as permanently damaging the product and making it
non-functional.
What is the value of being connected?
From a sustainability point of view it also made it possible to sell the
product on the 2nd hand market. Before there was no guarantee that a
product you bought 2nd hand was still functioning properly.
What is the benefit for the company?
Information was connected to the unique serial nr of the carseat, which
made it possible to easily determine whether a product was still safe for
use or not. This opened up a lot of possibilities for the client, for
example in moving from a product to a service model, tightening the
relationship with their clients in a leasing system.

Smart Energy saving
June
What is it?
June constantly looks for the best market prices and
automatically switches you between energy suppliers.
What is the value of being connected?
Users can benchmark their consumption with June community
members, people like them and their friends. A visualisation of
the energy savings per day, week and month is available and
personal preferences can be consulted or altered.
What is the benefit for the company?
June wanted to be able to track energy use in real-time and
visualise it in a user friendly way to their users. In the back they
wanted to compare the offers different energy providers had on
the market and give their clients the opportunity to switch to a
more optimised one for their profile.

A generic sensor node developed for 10 years of
measurements without recharging
Level Sensor
What is it?
For this application we designed a generic sensor node
and a cloud-based platform. The sensor node can be
applied in any place where level sensing is crucial for
security reasons.
What is the value of being connected?
For instance, the sensor could be used to monitor water
levels in sewers, basins or monitor container capacity.
When full, the nodes will send an alert so they can be
emptied at the right moment.
What is the benefit for the company?
For stock management, all containers or silos could be
accommodated with a sensor node alerting when they
are nearly empty and triggering automatic stock refill.
A new electric bike for urban riders
Cowboy
What is it?
The COWBOY is equipped with an intuitive motor
assistant, an intelligent and removable battery that is
nicely integrated into the frame, built-in connected lights,
an anti-theft system and GPS tracking.
What is the value of being connected?
It can be remotely updated and comes with an assistant
to support you when-or where ever you need it.
What is the benefit for the company?
These startups are usually in the begin stage of their
product conception and we support them in quickly
developing testable prototypes so that they can fail fast,
gather feedback, iterate and reach a high level of
customer satisfaction when they launch.
What’s an edge device?
Compute power
Powerful CPUs, disks, memory to enable local processing
Ruggedized
Designed to be deployed in harsh and/or dusty environments.
Can operate between -30° and 70° Celcius.
Connectivity
Wireless and wired networks, including LTE
Management
Device discovery and remote management
Local data processing to react faster
Use cases for edge devices
Local intelligence
Edge devices have sufficient power to run AI models
locally (e.g. image recognition)
Lower latency
No need to send data to the cloud for remote processing.
Resilience to network interruptions
Processing continues while the network connection is not
operational. Data can be batched and sent later.
Simultaneously develop for cloud and edge
IoT Edge Software
Modular
Modules filter and process data and pass on the results to
other modules or the cloud
Simple deployment
Deploy modules to remote edge devices reliably
Secure
No need for direct connectivity to edge devices.
