Advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing ❄ No need for upfront capital. ❄ No need to manage hardware or software upgrades. ❄ Add/Remove extra services as the business needs change. ❄ LOW Cost. ❄ One-off, upfront capital costs become ongoing operating costs. That might be more expensive in the long-term depending on the business. ❄ Vendor lock-in Think of cloud computing as renting a fully serviced flat instead of buying a home of your own. Clearly there are advantages in terms of convenience, but there are huge restrictions on how you can live and what you can alter. Will it automatically work out better and cheaper for you in the long term? Source
AWS Economical Effect On The Market ❄ 2014 – Committed to achieve 100% renewable energy usage for its global footprint. ❄ 2015 – AWS breaks out its revenue, $6 Billion USD per year and growing close to 90% on yearly basis. ❄ 2016 – Run rate of $13 billion USD. Source. ❄ 2016 – Cisco, Dell EMC, IBM, HP Enterprise, Oracle and VMware generated $206 Billion, a $15 Billion reduction from 2012 (3% shrinkage year on year).

Region AZ-AAZ-A AZ-BAZ-B AZ-CAZ-C What is a Region and what is an Availability Zone (AZ) ? A Region is a geographical area. Each region consists of 2 (or more) Availability zones. An Availability zone is a Data Center.
Global Infrastructure The AWS Cloud operates 42 Availability Zones within 16 geographic Regions around the world, with five more Availability Zones and two more Regions coming online throughout the next year
Regions And Number of Availability Zones (16 geo-regions, 42 availabity zones) AWS Gov Cloud Two Availability Zones US-West Oregon (3), Northern California (3) US-East Northern Virginia (5), Ohio (3) Canada Central (2) South America Sao Paulo (3) Europe Ireland (3), Frankfurt (2), London (2) Asia Pacific Singapore (2), Sydney (3), Tokyo (3), Seoul (2), Mumbai (2) China Beijing (2)
What is an Edge location ? • Edge locations are similar to Content Delivery Networks (CDN) with extra features that promotes performance and developer’s usability. • There are many more edge locations than Regions/Availability Zones.
