Editor's Notes

  1. The Mapping Platform for Your OrganizationCreate interactive maps and apps and share them with the rest of the organization. Each user gets an account so they can share and collaborate with each other. Users also get access to ready-to-use apps, maps, templates, and other content so they can be productive right away.”
  2. So soon we have the ability for people to work online with their ArcGIS Online dataWe’re making sure these tools are also made available to our desktop and server customers – At the next version of Server we’re planning on letting you use profile builder to design your profiles and save them back to your server instance. We also want to make the dashboard builder available for use to server customers – not sure though whether we’ll get this out for next Server version though. For desktop users our priority is to make profile building using the profile builder an option for them.
  3. Mike showed you the profile builder this morning.
  4. We’re now finishing off the dashboard builder and data modeller. This will allow you to author atlases online.Demo in Chrome– Easily change look and feel, move items; edit properties, choose different template; the final bit we’re working on is the data modeller – pick you data source, set up themes, dates, associates etc. – everything you currently do in excel data manager at the momenthttps://online.instantatlas.com/dashboard-builder/author/In the long term we’re hoping this will be a more intuitive method for building atlases. If we know about the data you’re publishing then we’re able to give the user more help in building their atlas e.g. providing list of fields in drop downs for properties. Being an online tool we’re hoping it’ll be easier for you to use the tool wherever you are – at home, on the move, in the office.
  5. Good afternoon. My name is Jon Peltenburg and I am the Technical Director at Geowise. I’m going to run though the up and coming releases of IA in 2014.
  6. Lets start with desktop
  7. Last release was 6.7.1 in September last year6.7.2 is due out May time. Lets have a look at some of the new features.http://www.instantatlas.com/samples/icjia/atlas.html – start on classic bar chartArea Breakdown chartTime Series coloured regionhttp://www.instantatlas.com/samples/stackedBarChart/atlas.htmlStacked Bar chartMap now zooms to all selected areas when chosen in the tableMap zoom to filter area without the need for a matching contextual areaImproved URL Parametershttp://www.apho.org.uk/addons/_126889/atlas.htmlhttp://www.instantatlas.com/samples/Health_Profile_HTML/atlas.htmlHealth Profiles - Variant of our performance template.
  8. Got some work going on at the moment to do with exporting which looks encouraging. At the moment we don’t have a way of exporting the legends in HTML 5. we think we found a solution recently so I’d hope to get that into this next version.
  9. With modern browsers its getting increasingly difficult to work with local data. They see this as a potential security risk. Makes it difficult though when authoring an atlas to check its correct. And sometimes you just want publish atlases on a local file system. So we’re still keen to find a workaround for this. Interested to know how many people this problem affects. There’s an intermittent issue with changing text in the properties using the Designer. As usual with intermittent issues they’re very difficult to fix. Work around at the moment is to copy and paste you text in.
  10. Pierre showed this morning lots of the new features and fixes in IAS 6.5.2 so you should talk to support if you haven’t upgraded
  11. The next version will be 6.6 due out October 2014Our highest priority is to expose the Profile Builder to Server customers so that they can design profiles using it and then save the results back to their server instance.Making sure our products work across new platforms and browsers is an ongoing task. IE 11 has caused quite a few issues for software vendors – lots of work arounds for IE need to be stripped out.I’d like to put some effort into new widgets this release. Although you can put atlases into profiles they don’t fit that well. So we’d like to port some of the ideas to widgets e.g. the population pyramid. We’ve got some ideas but need to prioritise them e.g. we could improve the arcgis map widget we could dop a spine chart. If you have ideas about what you’d like to see please let support know. We’ve still got some time. If you have high priority annoyances or feature requests then please highlight them with the support team and we’ll make sure they get considered for the next release.
