  By Erica McGillivray, President
Common ways people make decisions:
                   Actively Decide

Ask someone to decide for them

    Crowd-Source Inaction
You are awesome. Let’s empower you
         to make decisions!
No matter which way you make your
 decision, you are still responsible.

fuckery.”

General Decision Making

• Who?
• What?
• Where?
• When?
• Why?
• How?
Does it involve money?
Think Critically
Dig to the Heart of the Matter
Use Your Resources
Do Your Research
Consider complexity, history,
consequences, and alternatives
Don’t Overthink
Listen to your instincts, but don't let
          them control you
Ask Wisely
• Clearly ask for something
• Give choices or suggestions
• Give a time frame
• Simplify the decision making
• Hold off on asking and think more

Hang in there!
Who to Involve
OR
Make Sure They’re the Right People
When in doubt, ask your manager first
• Not a Magic 8 Ball.
• Not the GeekGirlCon
  Jesus.
• Does not always have
  all the facts.
• Cannot always help in a
  timely or effective
  manner.
• Will not tell you what
  shoes to wear with
  your chemistry joke t-
  shirt.
Crowd-sourcing can be dangerous
Sometimes, you just need to let
       people know
