How Effective Is The
Combination Of Your Main
Product And Ancillary Texts?
Both the ancillary task products and final film play an important role onto the
audience, the professionalism of the ancillary products, and also the
documentary itself help with the main task of keeping an audience interested
and help them enjoy a film about something they may not normally be
interested, in this case volleyball, which as is pointed out in the documentary
is not a particularly popular sport in the UK, which is where the documentary
would be aired, and so the professionalism of the piece gives it a larger
chance of being viewed. Throughout all the ancillary tasks and the final piece I
have kept a consistent use of iconography. I have used the ‘LeAF Athlete
Academy’ badge throughout, both on the posters, and within the film. This is
used to give the audience something to recognize from the adverts, and to
link each individual task to the next, and previous one.
Strengths
•Use if Iconography with the symbol.
•Clearly states when and where the
documentary is aired.
•Use of previous work done by the
same director.
Weakness’s
•No pictures
•Lack of information on who is in
it.
•Should have pictures of Ben
Pipes, Koko Stoimenov and Darius
Setsoafia.
•Should be brighter, so it stands
out more.
•Could have used stills from the
documentary.
The next step for the poster I had
made was to add it into a
newspaper article, and see how it
worked for its purpose. I decided
to find an existing article, about
the LeAF campus, and add my
poster into it. This has not worked
very well, although the points are
there, and its still being
advertised, the poster now looks
unprofessional, and amateur.
Although it would still be seen by
a large audience. Another
downside is that it is in a local
article in a local paper, so this the
means the poster is not being
seen by as many people as I
would like. It is only being seen by
people in the area of the school it
is about.
Strengths
•The trailer is clear, and effective.
•Has all relevant information.
•Good music in the background.
•Not too long
Weakness’s
•Not interesting enough.
•Doesn’t grab the audience.
