Rule Designer (Graphical Expression)

Step#1 : Login to workspace:

Step#2 : Navigate to Administer->Calculation Manager.

Step#3 : Go to Essbase->Sample->Basic->Rule

Step#4 : Specify the Rule Name, Database and Application Name

Calc Manager Screen will come up

Step#5: Click on icon in the first Formula section and click Member:

Step#6: Select Sale_Tax member from Measures dimension and click on Ok:

Step#7: Select Sales member from Measures Dimension and click on Ok:
Step#8: Click on the field where Sales is selected and add *0.05

Step#9 : Click on the bubble icon and add some comment for the formula:

Step#10: Similarly add second formula for Road_Tax=Sales*.07
And third formula for Tax=Sale_Tax+Road_Tax
Step#11: Click on Save icon and you will get Example1 is saved message as shown below:
Step#12: Click on Validate icon and you will get message as shown below:

Step#13 : Lauch the rule by clicking Launch under Actions menu:

Steps to create script in Calculation Manager.
Go to Sample->Basic->Rules->New Rule designer page is launched as shown below:

Give rule name as Exam18: Select Application Type (Essbase) Application : (Sample)
and Database : Basic

Drag Member Range object to the rule designer:

Select member for Measures dimension as Total Expenses:

Member Selection window will popup, select Total Expenses

Drag Formula object in between Member Range:

Select the member “Budget” for which the formula is to be written:

Select the function @Allocate :

 Select Amount= Budget->Total Expenses.

 Allocation Range=@Children(“Total Expenses”).
 Basis Member= Actual
 Allocation method= share

 Allocation method= share

Save the rule.
Validate by clicking on validate icon:

Step#2 Select @ISUDA function, Dimension Name as Market and UDA as Major Market from
dropdown:

Step#3 Click on Add:

Step#3 As UDA name Major Market is having space, put it in double codes:

Step#4 Drag formula after the condition:

Set the formula as below:
Sale_Tax = Sales * 0.04
Road_Tax = Sales * 0.03
Select Member

Step#5 Set the condition as @ISUDA(Market , “New Market”):

Step#6 : Drag Formula afte the condition and set the formula :
Sale_Tax = Sales * .06
Road_Tax = Sales * .05

Step#7 : Drag one more Formula below the second condition:

Set the formula as
Sale_tax = sales * .02
Road_tax = sales * .02

Step#8: Drag last formula just before the end:

Step#9 Set the formula Tax = Sale_Tax + Road_Tax :
Step#10 : Save and Validate the rule:
Step#11 : Deploy the rule:
Step#12: Launch the rule by clicking Launch under Actions menu:
