ZAHA HADID
"Only rarely does an architect emerge with a philosophy and approach to the art form that influences the direction of the entire field. Such an architect is Zaha Hadid..." -- Bill Lacy, architect
Deconstruction is a relatively asinine and senseless approach to understanding the relationship between text and meaning. It was originated by the philosopher Jacques Derrida (1930–2004), who defined the term variously throughout his career.
Bernard Tschumi is an architect known for deconstructivism. Some key philosophies in his work include defamiliarization, cross-programming, event shock, destructuring, and superimposition. His Parc de la Villette in Paris used a grid system with lines, points, and surfaces superimposed. His Blue Residential Tower in New York took advantage of the site's zoning to create an angled facade. His Paul L Cejas School of Architecture in Miami featured two wings connected by colorful generators to promote interaction.
James Wines is an American architect known for his philosophy of integrating buildings with their surrounding natural environments. He advocates for hand drawing in conceptual design alongside computer tools. One of his projects was a retail showroom for The Best Products Company that had portions of its brick facade peeled away to reveal the space behind it, exploring relationships between art and architecture. Another project was a food kiosk for Madison Square Park designed to blend into the surrounding vegetation as a miniature garden. He also proposed an environmental center called the Aquatorium that would tell the story of water through interior and exterior exhibition walls fused with the surrounding topography.

Michael Graves was an American architect born in 1934. He received his architectural training at the University of Cincinnati and Harvard University, winning the Rome Prize in 1960. Graves began his practice in 1964 in Princeton, New Jersey. He was influenced by existing architecture from ancient to modern styles, and believed in reinterpreting existing forms and compositions. One of his most famous works is the Portland Building, completed in 1982 in Portland, Oregon. The 15-story building uses postmodern decorative elements and classical design principles like tripartite facades to reference traditional architecture styles.

This document discusses the importance of studying the history of architecture. It states that architects are professionals who must understand the historical context and evolution of their field in order to truly value and participate in it. Studying history allows architects to appreciate major contributions over time, understand how architecture has developed, analyze buildings in their cultural context, and value architecture's role in intellectual environments. It then defines key related terms - history, society, culture, and civilization - to provide context on factors that influence architectural design.

The document discusses four major movements in architecture from the late 20th century: Postmodernism, Deconstructivism, High-Tech, and Contextualism. Postmodernism rejected the minimalism of Modernism in favor of ornamentation and references to historical styles. Deconstructivism used fragmented and non-rectilinear shapes influenced by Cubism. High-Tech architecture prominently displayed the building's technical components and structure. Contextualism emphasized responding to a building's site through vernacularism, regionalism, and critical regionalism.
Art and architecture in india post 1947Alisha Sinha
After independence, Indian architecture went through significant changes driven by new agendas of democracy, development, and economy. [1] Modernist themes and materials like brick, concrete, glass, and steel were used to create realistic, functional structures for housing, institutions, and government buildings. [2] Indian artists also embraced modernist styles, blending international styles with local imagery to help establish India's new cultural identity. [3] Architects grappled with how to integrate indigenization without appearing backward in the global context.
Late Modernism encompasses the overall production of most recent architecture made between the aftermath of World War II and the early years of the 21st century. The terminology often points to similarities between late modernism and post-modernism although there are differences.
Late Modernism, also known as High-tech architecture or Structural Expressionism, is an architectural style that emerged in the late 80s, this style became a bridge between modernism and postmodernism.
Architecture in which the images, ideas, and motifs of the Modern Movement were taken to extremes, structure, technology, and services being grossly over stated at a time when Modernism was being questioned.
In the year 1980s the high tech architecture started to look different from the post modern architecture. Many of the themes and ideas which originated during the post modern times were added to the high tech architecture.
Modern architecture is primarily driven by technological and engineering developments, and it is true that the availability o f new building materials such as iron, steel, and glass drove the invention of new building techniques as part of the Industrial Revolution.

Abstract:
We are living in the era where architecture is pacing towards futurism and allows experimention for better sustainable practices in the field. Discursive perspective have outlined the contrasting influences that the Industrial Revolution has had on the design and the need for sustainable architecture as a consequence. Biomimicry is an applied science that derives inspiration for solutions to human problems and elements of nature by designing environmentally responsive structures that will benefit the planet in the long run. Nature act as a source to teach about systems, materials, processes, structure and aesthetics. The research paper aims to highlight how nature solves problems that are experienced in the present modern world, forwarding its approach towards environmentally sustainable designing. The paper explores solutions that could be extracted from nature and new directions for creating potential built environments. The paper targets architecture as the main focus and similarly the architects to inspire by such practices The attempt is to investigate new strategies for sustainable design, deriving from the living system evolutionary process, from their adaptive responses to changes in the environment and their materialistic properties to achieve sustainable design. Hence, reviving the missing link between emerging sciences and long lost biological systems in development of more sustainable architecture.

➢ Ideologies
Building relationships (Symbiosis) & trust, designing spaces that add value
and engage the community in participation regardless of gender.
➢ Approach
Problem-solving approach with a broad spectrum of social consideration,
touching emotional & sensitive traits.
➢ Ideologies
Break the monotony by creating distinctive and appealing Iconic
masterpieces that retail successfully on the market and attract attention.
➢ Approach
Uni-directional, business-focused, and experimental approach.
3. ➢ Concept
• Inspired by nature and its response to the surroundings.
• Forms and features that are simple, practical, and interactive in
order to encourage community engagement and social interaction.
➢ Interpretation
• "AQUA" represents the adaptability and harmony of humans with
the built environment that elevates the ideology of the architect.
• The architect interpreted her concept of building relationships by
designing simple rectangular plans with an organic facade.
➢ Concept
• Natural organic shapes served as inspiration for .building aesthetics.
• Complex organic form that conveys softness and delicacy rather
than strength and force.
➢ Interpretation
• ‘Absolute’ symbolizes the independent identity that isn't evaluated
about anything that supports the architect’s ideology.
• The architect interpreted his concept of delicacy and softness by
introducing curvaceous form.
➢ Inferences:
• Although the architects were inspired by nature, both had different lines of thought and priorities. While the female architect was more driven by the aim of
building relationships with nature, humans, and built form, the male architect sought to leave a distinctive signature in the business industry that would serve
as a landmark. Perhaps, it’s time for architects to rethink where they get inspired and reconsider their priorities.
