Tip: Specifically insert a "..." to encourage people to click and find out exactly what is free.
Heading Tags03
Using Heading Tags
Include the primary keyword only once in one <h1> tag and try to make it part of a larger phrase. Not just the exact keyword.
<h1>, <h2> and <h3> tags are used to inform Google about the main and sub-topics of the page.
<h1> and the <title> should be unique from each other.
Try including secondary keyword (or synonyms) in <h2> and <h3>, but don’t over-optimize or spam.
Page Optimization04
Optimizing a Page for Multiple Keywords
Certain sections on a page are more valuable to have your keywords in than others.
1. URL
2. SEO Title Tag (i.e.: <TITLE></TITLE>)
3. H1 (i.e.: Page title)
4. H2, H3, H4...
5. Content
It is not necessary to place the secondary keywords as is, you can use the fillers/connectors to make it
grammatically correct.
Page Optimization for Multiple Keywords Example
Let's say we have the following keywords we want to target on the homepage in order of importance:
1. dog training
2. dog obedience
3. puppy school
4. dog walking training
URL: http://petpros.com/dog-training-and-obedience
Title Tag: Dog Training and Obedience School | Pet Pros
H1: Dog Training School for both Puppies and Adult Canines
H2: Walking your Dog
Lastly, we have a long list of keywords, make sure to put them in the content somewhere.
Tip: Let's say you're trying to rank for the keywords "____ review" and "____ reviews". You'll need to include both 'review' and 'reviews'
somewhere on the page.
Word Count05
How much should be the word count for an LP/ Blog
Look at the pages ranking on page 1 and target the average (or perhaps a little bit higher word count
Paid Tool: Surfer SEO
Keyword Density06
How much should be the Keyword Density
Individual words of a keyword phrase matter
Example:
"dog training" on the page 4 times,
but "dog" is used 90 times
"training" is used 60 times.
This will cause Panda-penalty :(
Have a look at few results ranking on page 1 and replicate the same.
Paid Tool: Surfer SEO
URL Optimization07
How to optimize the URL
Have a keyword in the URL only once
Shorter URLs perform better
Examples: Branded domain is going for target keyword "dog training"
GOOD: http://www.ilovemyk9.com/dog-training
BAD: http://www.ilovemyk9.com/dog-training-guide-for-new-owners-of-puppies
Example: Partial match domain is going for target keyword "puppy training"
GOOD: http://www.dogguides.com/puppy-training (bonus because “dog’ is related to the word puppy)
BAD: http://www.dogguides.com/guide-for-training-your-puppy-dog (too long and "dog" is used twice)
Also check the competing URLs.
Authority Links (from our blogs)08
Linking to Authority sites to gain Google trust
Linking to websites with high domain authority of 80 and above.
Don’t use Wikipedia for your authority links. This is what every SEO does and Google does not like SEOs.
Try to add external link below the fold (2nd half of the article).
Choose obvious anchors so that less people click on these links and they don’t bounce from our website.
Featured Snippets09
How to get Featured Snippets
For “how to” queries we should mention the steps in list format.
When your search requires a comparison of data from a variety of different metrics, organize your data in a table
and embed that table on your page.
You can also reverse-engineer it by looking at the featured snippet that is currently being displayed for a given
keyword.
Tips:
1) Integrate synonyms and related words around your ordered list.
2) Put the target keywords in the H2 right above the list.
