Editor's Notes

  1. SMART technology - use for engaging young people and making environment more interesting Supports our aims of “weaving the environment” into all courses Opportunity to partner with other organisations
  2. John Muir Award: helping to grow the environmental awareness of our young people Pollinators: understanding the important role of pollinators to our natural environment and helping to map locations of thriving pollinator populations as well as the habitats they like. Working with Welsh Government to provide evidence base to important policy development work.
  3. So…COBWEB lend us 10 devices, I use a webpage with what’s called an ‘authoring tool’ to create specific forms that we use in the field with the young people. I then sync this with the devices so that all the young people see the same thing. The kinds of things that we are interested in depends on the project or the client but at the moment we’re just spotting interesting things in the environment, taking photos and looking at it all on maps when we get back to the Centre. Here’s evidence of a young person using one of the devices!
