Bootstrap is a popular front-end framework for building responsive mobile-first websites and web apps. It was created in 2011 by developers at Twitter and contains pre-built UI components and CSS styles for common patterns like navigation bars, dropdowns, and progress bars. Bootstrap uses a responsive 12-column grid system and has gone through several major releases to support new features and a mobile-first approach. It is free to use, well-documented, customizable, and has a large community of developers.

What is Bootstrap? “The most popular HTML, CSS, and JS framework for developing responsive,mobile first projects on the web.”
History of Bootstrap • It was developed by Mark otto and Jacob Thornton in August 9,2011 at Twitter ,US. • Firstly its name was Twitter Blueprint, Then renamed as Bootstrap. • On Jan 31, 2012 Bootstrap 2 was launched. This release added the twelve- column grid layout and responsive design components. • On Oct 29,2013 Bootstrap 3 was launched. This release moving to a mobile first approach . • At last, on July 27,2016 , Bootstrap 4 Alpha 3 is released.
Why use? • Bootstrap is a giant collection of handy, reusable bits of code written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.It’s also a front-end development framework that enables developers & designers to quickly build fully responsive websites. • Bootstrap saves you from writing lots of CSS code, giving you more time to spend on designing webpages. • It’s also FREE! • It’s currently hosted on GitHub and can be downloaded easily from getbootstrap.com.
