Advanced Microsoft Word We will learn about: applying a  background design using a table layout inserting & formatting text
Do you know what “Microsoft Word” is used for?
It can be used to write and put in pictures.
It can also be used to create newspaper articles.
To launch Microsoft Word,  Click on Start ->All Programs ->Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Word
When you open Microsoft Word, a blank page appears called a “DOCUMENT”. The cursor blinks at the place where you may begin to insert your text.
To insert a background design: On the menu, select “Insert”, go to “Picture” and click on “From File” 2. Find the location of the background designs
To preview the designs, click here and select “Thumbnails” Click on the design that you would like to insert, and then click “Insert”
Resize your design until it covers the whole page To resize, just click on one of the corners on the edge of the design and adjust accordingly. Release your mouse button once you are done. Then, adjust the layout to be “Behind Text”
Insert a table to arrange the layout of your newspaper article Click Table ->Insert  ->   Table and set 2 columns and 6 rows as shown above Click OK
Highlight the 2 cells in the first row Then click Table ->Merge Cells to combine them together Now type in the title of your newspaper “The Straits Times” in the combined cell
1 )  Highlight your title using your mouse 4 ) Select a font style 3 ) Change the font size 2 ) Move it to the center
To save your work. Click on the icon of a diskette on the top toolbar The computer will then ask you to name your document Type your class and name. Example : 3A-davidtan Click “save”
