5G is now, and with it comes new opportunities and challenges as 50 billion connected things will generate unprecedented amounts of data traffic by 2020. To realize the full potential of 5G, efforts must accelerate to create intelligent networks with distributed analytics from client to cloud. Open source and standards collaborations will be crucial for building flexible and programmable networks that can meet the diverse needs of 5G through network slicing.
