The old and the new for your users • Host endpoints -> Mapped collections – Need local account to access data • Shared endpoints -> Guest collections – No local account needed for data access, permissions set in Globus • Find host endpoint to create shared endpoint -> Find storage gateway to created guest collections • GridFTP for data access -> GridFTP or HTTPS for data access

5.1 Features • Multiple storage connectors – POSIX – Google Drive • Guest collections (shared endpoints) only • HTTPS and GridFTP access to data • Single DTN install only • Authentication for data access using only identity providers used to login to Globus
Installation overview 1. Download and install binary 2. Register the new endpoint with Globus Auth 1. Get client id and secret 3. Update configuration and run setup 4. Add connector(s) for storage system(s) 5. Create storage gateways

What’s different from V4 • Globus ID is not needed • Port 443 rather than 2811 used for GridFTP control channel • Endpoint created using endpoint client identity – clientid@clients.auth.globus.org • Each collection is assigned a DNS name in the glob.us namespace – E.g. 988c.8540.dn.glob.us • Certificates are obtained from Let’s Encrypt • Need to create storage gateway(s) for data access
We now have • An endpoint – GCSv5.1 Demo Endpoint – Server configuration, network use parameters, etc. can be managed here
We now have • A storage gateway – GCSv5.1 Data Store – Policy on who can create collections, restricted paths etc can be managed here • An endpoint – GCSv5.1 Demo Endpoint – Server configuration, network use parameters, etc. can be managed here

Only use version 5.1 if you need… • Google Drive support – Migrate from 5.0 to 5.1 – Contact us for migration documentation • HTTPS access to data – with guest collections (shared endpoint)
