14. What is a Content Management System A content management system, or CMS, is a web application designed to make it easy for non-technical users to add, edit and manage a website. When World Wide Web was born, creating simplest web pages required HTML knowledge. Then came professional editors like Dreamweaver and Frontpage.

The content is stored in database while the site's presentation is separate from the content and resides in visual templates.
