About HCST HCST was Established in 1987 to build  a national S&T base to assist socio-economic development in the Kingdom through increasing awareness of the significance of R&D, providing the necessary funding for such activities and directing it towards national developmental priorities. The Council was also entrusted with the establishment of specialized scientific centers, where appropriate, and represents the Kingdom at regional and international S&T activities.
Main Activities Science & Technology Policy,  Strategy &Programs (2012 – 2016)   Setting R&D Priorities in Jordan in the next 10 years. The HCST is signatory to many  S&T cooperation agreements with international entities.

Cooperation with the European Union  HCST established  Jordan’s Information Point  on  2005 with the objective of increasing the participation of Jordanian researchers in EU RTD  programs.  The HCST is the coordinator of the  S&T  Cooperation Agreement  that was signed in Nov 2009 between the European Commuinty and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

HCST Achievements through SRTD Missions inside Jordan Training the liaison officers in  FP7 proposal preparation, consortium formation, contracting and finance, proposal evaluation, project coordination . "Train the trainers" concept was adopted and the liaison officers on turn conducted awareness events about FP7 programme in their institutions.
HCST Achievements through SRTD Specific thematic workshops to the researchers ICT, Environment, Energy , NMP & KBBE  Over 900 researchers participated in workshops, conferences and internships Regional  FP7 coordination  workshop (12-14/12/2010)
HCST Achievements through SRTD Missions outside Jordan Internships to the liaison officers  in Europe Networking events (e.g research connection conference and brokerage days) Conferences (Europabio, Biotech, ICT2010) Consortium meetings for researchers preparing proposals under FP7.

Lessons learnt (2) Building on the results of the previous project (EuroMEDANET & POMEDAccess) Linking with other ongoing projects and networks Unifying the databases and linking them to CORDIS Training (needs of the target groups weaknesses, practical rather than theoretical) One to one meetings with EU partners
Way Forward Thematic National Contact Points (NCPs) were identified and will work jointly with the HCST in disseminating information about EU RTD Energy & NMP NCPs : National R&D centre KBBE NCP : NACRE Environment NCP : EMARCU Health NCP : KHCC ICT NCP : NITC
