An Old Buddhist Tale
Bruce Lee , the legendary martial artist, once told a story about a highly-educated man who went to a Zen teacher to ask and acquire knowledge about Zen.
As the Zen teacher began to explain things, the man would frequently interrupt with remarks like , "Oh, yes, we have that too…”
Finally the Zen teacher stopped talking. He began to serve tea. He poured tea into the man’s cup.
He poured tea into the cup until it was full, and then kept pouring until the cup overflowed. "Enough!" the man once more interrupted, "No more can go into the cup!"
“ Indeed, I see," answered the Zen teacher, "If you do not first empty the cup, how can you taste my cup of tea?"
A full cup cannot accept anything more. Similarly, a person who believes that he had learnt a lot cannot learn anything else & will stagnate quickly and not move to higher levels.

Why do teachers avoid using technology? Walang gamit. Mahirap gamitin. Nakakatakot, baka masira. Di ako marunong. Ayaw ko eh.....
Why use technology in the classroom? It cannot be avoided. Students expect it. It really helps.
It cannot be avoided Teachers will not be replaced by technology, but teachers who don’t use technology will be replaced by those who do. Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach
Students expect it. They [Students] thrive on multitasking and expect that the technology devices that they use in their everyday lives be a part of their educational process. (Baird & Fisher, 2006; Skiba, 2006 as cited in Badowski, 2009, p. 37)
It really helps. Teachers who use multiple media in their classrooms can assist their students to expedite the learning process and retain the material better. (Moreno & Mayer, 2002 as cited in Badowski, 2009, p. 37)
What is E-Learning? Learning facilitated and supported through the use of information and communications technology’ (JISC, 2007) E-Learning is defined as students developing knowledge, skills and understanding, through the use of computer-based technologies. (Boulton, 2009, p.11)
What is E-Learning? Internet-based, CD-ROM based, telephone-based, video-based learning activities are all considered as e-learning. Today, the vast majority of e-learning takes place on the web through a web browser (Internet Explorer,Firefox, Safari...). (Praetere, 2008)

Making PowerPoint Slides Avoiding the Pitfalls of Bad Slides
Hints for a successful presentation Plan carefully Do your research Know your audience Practice your presentation Speak at a comfortable pace and project to your audience
Outline Make your 1 st or 2 nd slide an outline of your presentation Ex: previous slide Follow the order of your outline for the rest of the presentation Only place main points on the outline slide Ex: Use the titles of each slide as main points
Use 1-2 slides per minute of your presentation Write in point form, not complete sentences Include 4-5 points per slide Avoid wordiness: use key words and phrases only

Using Multi-media in Educational Settings

What is Multi-Media? Multi-media is a medium of instruction which incorporates the use of sound, pictures and words .
The Use of Multi-Media is not a Modern Technology
Films are an excellent supplement to the classroom. It helps students to think critically about the topic and to engage in meaningful class discussion.
Tips for Effective Film Viewing View the film prior to showing it to class. Consider the following questions as you view the film. Does the content merit the lesson? How does it relate the course material? Are there portions of the film that can be skipped. Is there any offensive portion contained in the material?
Provide the students with vocabulary and names that they will encounter in the clip. Always watch the film with the class. Provide a framework for viewing the film. Give the students a set of questions to consider when watching the film. Tips for Effective Film Viewing
After viewing, summarize the main points of the film with the students. Facilitate the discussion that will make the connection between the film, the lesson and their actual life. Tips for Effective Film Viewing

Summary and Conclusions How does technology enhance teaching and learning?
Technology provides teachers the opportunity to connect with their students outside their classrooms…. (Badowski, 2009)
But technology in itself will NOT immediately enhance teaching and learning.
Consequently, technology should give teachers the opportunity to connect with their students more effectively and as a result of this connection, become better teachers.
Challenge to Teachers Through technology… connect and be creative, connect and be interesting, connect and be relevant, connect and be BETTER .
