What to Know

Critics Consensus

Funny, self-referential, and irreverent to a fault, The Wolf of Wall Street finds Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio at their most infectiously dynamic.

Wendy Ide Times (UK) ... A sprawling riot of bad taste and consumption — and tremendously entertaining if you’re in the right mood. Nov 23, 2022 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk The film has roused censure for glorifying crime, with scant, awkwardly realised minutes paid to Belfort's eventual comeuppance. But surely 71-year-old Scorsese, a one-time wannabe priest whose work is preoccupied with morality, did that deliberately? Rated: 4/5 Sep 6, 2017 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire Scorsese is fascinated by procedure, by drawing back the curtain and showing us how things happen, though he keeps the picture nimble and entertaining enough to avoid burying himself in the minutiae. Jun 18, 2016 Full Review Noah Gittell Washington City Paper It continues to provoke and entertain... Oct 12, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Scorsese depicts an intriguing and marvelously loathsome human beast in its natural setting, where the verdict on its judgment lies in the hands of its audience. Rated: 4/4 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson "The Wolf of Wall Street" doesn't want to be lovable. It just wants to remind you how excessive wealth can get and catch you being entertained by it. You can't target excessiveness to hate without being excessive in its depiction. Alex F I would say this is a big film. There's a lot going on. A lot of chaos. But, in amongst the chaos, there are great performances and I'd be lying if I didn't say this film was entirely gripping. I've watched this film at least 3 or 4 times..I think that says it all. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Timlord J Incredibly entertaining despite its flaws Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Zach B A highly entertaining film that is although a complete mess, was incredibly enjoyable to watch with all actors/actresses playing their roles perfectly. Highly recommended. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Douglas C This is a must watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review christian b Very entertaining movie.
