What to Know

Critics Consensus

Death At A Funeral is a rousing British farce, with enough slapstick silliness to overcome its faults.

Cliff Doerksen Time Out Rated: 2/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Alonso Duralde AfterElton.com Despite a final half hour that's full of laughs, Death takes so long getting its farce gears moving that the audience becomes comatose with anticipation of mirth that is too late in coming. Feb 12, 2010 Full Review Mark Bourne Film.com It's no classic, but it did prompt me to watch those great old Ealing Alec Guinness comedies again. Mar 4, 2008 Full Review Matt Neal ABC Radio (Australia) A wonderful ensemble comedy that doesn't get the dues it deserves. Rated: 4/5 Sep 24, 2021 Full Review Ed Travis Hollywood Jesus Tudyk's comedic timing and drugged impersonations could have made the whole film, but Death at a Funeral offers a lot more laughs than just acid trips. Apr 10, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Death At A Funeral is a perversely absurd, funny, quirky, HILARIOUS comedy. Death can be funnier than life. nick s Competent enough production. Very British vibe to the acting. Its storytelling style and humour was lost on me to be honest. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Aender S A nice British comedy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review S S Wonderful gem of a movie but only if you appreciate British humor. Tried watching the 2010 American version and despite sticking quite closely to the original, it completely missed the mark. Which goes to show that its not all about the writing! The British cast just brought their own brand of understated eccentricity and superb, subtle timing to the piece that the Americans could not. Dinklage, who is in both films, was a perfect foil in the British version. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Bintang This movie is hilarious. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Peter G Director Frank Oz, an acknowledged expert on no holds barred comedy has come up with another funny film. Although set in England Oz has no trouble adapting his methods to the British style & shenanigans on display here. Too bad that John Cleese was not added to the mayhem here for he would have been right at home. Nevertheless, the large & diverse cast are up to the expanding craziness of a funeral which becomes a frequently hilarious example of Murphy‘s law. A bit slow at first but the variety of comedic mishaps increase & build to a satisfying conclusion. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Chicha Z By FAR MY FAVORITE COMEDY!! THE CASTING IS PERFECT. ACTING DOESNT GET ANY BETTER. I JUST KNOW EVERYONE HAS GOT SOME OF THESE PEOPLE IN THEIR FAMILY OR THEIR LIFE. EVERYONE CAN RELATE TO SOMEONE. EVERYONES HUMOR IS LITTLE DIFFERENT, I KNOW. MY SIDES HURT FOR 2 DAYS. THE EXPRESSIONS ALONE WITH NO WORDS WOULD CRACK ME UP.... I WISHED IT WAS ON YOUTUBE. I KNOW PEOPLE WOULD LOVE THAT HAVE NEVER SEEN. I ENVY THEM GETTING TO SEE FOR FIRST TIME. I TRY NOT TO WATCH ALOT, SO NOT TO GET TO USED TO IT. BUT CANT FIND ANYWHERE. TO ORDER.. IF SOMEONE IS DOWN THIS MOVIE WILL MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER. SO MUCH GOING ON, YOU CANT HELP BUT STAY INTRIGUED. MY NUMBER 1..WITHOUT A DOUBT !!
