What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Alan Partridge movie ditches the TV series' nuanced humor for something broader, and succeeds in presenting the character on a global scale.

Laurence Phelan Independent (UK) Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa...does play to the character's strengths, giving him reams of carefully honed comic writing disguised as casual malapropisms and off-the-cuff banter. Oct 24, 2018 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator I love the character of Alan Partridge so much... He is a genius creation; just wrong enough and inappropriate enough and narcissistic enough to be comic, but never so wrong he's entirely unbelievable or unsympathetic. Sep 5, 2018 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk Hopping from small to big screen is a trick few manage. This wisely and bravely keeps it small-scale and local - playing out like a slightly over-stretched TV special rather than a doomed attempt to lap-dance to Hollywood with A Good Day To Die Partridge Rated: 4/5 Sep 5, 2017 Full Review Farah Cheded A Good Movie To Watch Coogan is on typically brilliant form here: every line is delivered with his characteristically impeccable timing, and he’s full of the inspired energy that originally made Alan such a hit when the character debuted in the ‘90s. Oct 14, 2023 Full Review Robert Sims Lights Camera Austin Part of Alan Partridge's charm is that it is defiantly British in the targets it seeks out. Jan 22, 2022 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) So have your wits about you, and be prepared to laugh hard and often. Sometimes against your better judgment. Oliver A Quite possibly the funniest film of the decade. This is Steve Coogan at his absolute best supported by stellar writing and exceptional performances from Tim Key, Colm Meaney and Felicity Montagu. The laughs are constant and range from painfully clever to downright silly and you enjoy every single one. Truly exceptional. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/23 Full Review bill f Great fun! I didn't think the magnificent TV series would transfer to the large screen, but it works and there are some great gags throughout. AhhHaaa! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review George M Alan Partridge great as always Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/22 Full Review Audience Member So terribly British ! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review liam s When his mission goes horribly wrong, the cops are called. There's a lot of over-the-top comedy here. The greatest of British comedy. Like Hot Fuzz, this is a small town film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/22 Full Review Audience Member It reminded me of "The Office." Witty dialog, good acting and an interesting plot...I really enjoyed it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
