Influenza (Flu) Vaccinations
Influenza is a virus that causes respiratory illness. Similar to COVID-19, the flu can produce symptoms that range from mild to severe or life-threatening in children and adults.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone over the age of six months receive the flu vaccine. Vaccination is the best defense against getting the flu. It's also good to know that:
- The cost of the flu shot is covered by some insurance plans. We'll bill your insurance or accept payment.
- Children six months through eight years need two flu vaccines if it's the child's first seasonal flu vaccination. The second vaccine is given at least four weeks from the date of the first.
- After getting vaccinated, it takes about two weeks to develop antibodies to protect against influenza. If you're sick, stay home from work or school to prevent spreading illness to others.
