Foams and adhesives that uphold strength and stiffness while remaining lightweight have great appeal in the aerospace industry, including the space sector, commercial airlines, and in urban air mobility. Weight reduction is essential to cutting emissions, saving fuel, enabling greater aircraft speed and range, and guaranteeing safety. However, performance and resistance must also be maintained. Daniel Sydes, (pictured onstage, far right), our global business development director for aerospace adhesives, recently spoke on a panel entitled 🚀 “Fly Me to the Moon: Foams and Adhesives at the Forefront to Achieve Weight Reduction and High Strength-to-Weight Ratio” 🚀 at the Foam Expo North America and Adhesives & Bonding Expo in Novi, Michigan. Daniel joined a moderator and panelists from Boeing, Zotefoams and Gulfstream Aerospace. Together, they shared the benefits of durable, cost-effective materials, such as foam and adhesives, in the manufacturing of aircraft. “The aviation market is having a strong recovery following the COVID pandemic. For the most part, the aerospace coatings industry has recovered and things are back to normal. While there are still some minor supply chain issues and costs are higher, we saw our volumes return to pre-pandemic levels in 2023.” Learn more about the current state of the aerospace coatings market from our very own Duane Utter and Robin Peffer who contributed their expertise to this Coatings World article, along with other industry experts. https://lnkd.in/eydDR6sc #WeProtectandBeautify #PPGproud
