Growing up, I learned that society and the people around you will always have their opinions and judgments about women's roles and responsibilities, regardless of how successful or accomplished you become as a woman. I decided not to be limited by those boundaries or by the fear of what others might think of me. I knew what I wanted, and I did everything I could to achieve my goals. I am proud of all my efforts, successes, and even failures. However, what I am most grateful for are the people I met on this journey, especially those I encountered through #SAPBWN. I joined SAP and BWN about two years ago. Since then, I have been fortunate to work on initiatives that mattered to me, and I am extremely proud of all the accomplishments. #SAPBWN was honored to have a presence at #SAPSapphire this year! Hosting panel sessions in both Orlando and Barcelona, we had insightful conversations with SAP customers Cargill , Kearney, and Autodesk alongside our partners Accenture and Capgemini around AI and diversity in this new space of technology. SAP is on a journey to become the most inclusive software company in the world and BWN is on the forefront of this journey! I feel honored and proud to have the opportunity to take part in this project and work with an amazing team.

One thing about me is that I never give up. I take a step back, make modifications and adjustments in my approach and try to find other ways to reach my goal. Growing up in Iran, a country that ranks in the bottom five of the World Economic Forum Global Gender Gap Report, I learned early to fight for my goals. Growing up in that environment taught me that if I want to pursue my dreams, I have to be extra proactive, curious and courageous, because, if there is one thing you learn growing up as a girl in Iran, it is that you cannot take anything for granted in life. Thank you #ubcsauder and Meg Suderman for giving me this opportunity to share my story with other students.

This past year has been a year of dramatic changes for me. I made very hard decisions and had to let go of many things in my life because I had a new goal; a big transition in my career path. There were times that I was very scared and lost, but I was lucky to receive support through this transition process. I am grateful for all the mentorship I received and hope I will be able to give back and help other people like myself in future. I clearly remember leaving the Sauder building last year after the meeting I had with Natalie Souresrafil. The small chat with her made it possible for me to lay out the best path possible towards my goal. I am extremely excited to start this journey at UBC Sauder School of Business this fall and looking forward to connecting with the great faculty and very smart students at Sauder. #leadership #business #success #students #help #career #mentoring #coaching
