Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)’s Post

#ICYMI on June 12, a retired, de-militarized, and restored VH-3D Marine One was officially inducted into the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, College Station, Texas. Bureau number 159358 served United States presidents beginning with the Ford administration. The library and museum, located within the Texas A&M University campus, unveiled the VH-3D inside the new pavilion that now houses the retired Marine One on what would have been President George H. W. Bush's 100th birthday. #PMA274 received the aircraft in March 2023 and the helicopter was delivered to its final resting place February 2024. #MakeAnImpact #FlyNavy #HMX1 #BushLibrary

I also had the opportunity to serve at HMX-1. As crew chief of 358 I made many lifts for, at the time, VP Bush. A wonderful memory thanks for posting

358 was the first 3Daircraft into the -3D/60N SLEP effort at the Stratford plant in the early to mid 90's. Quite an undertaking. It certainly wasn't without problems and challenges. Jim H. - if memory serves, that was the first time I met you.

I was stationed at MCAS Tustin in 1989 when President Bush arrived (and left the next day) on one of a group of four VH-3Ds.
